Stellar field announced for this year's Classic.

Classic lineup set

Diamond State Classic director John Gretchen has finalized the field for this year's four-day girls basketball extravaganza, to be held Dec. 27-30 at the St. E Center.

Two teams - Oregon City (Ore.) and Coeur d'Alene (Idaho) - will travel more than 2,500 miles to play in the tournament's eight-team national bracket.

Defending state champion St. Elizabeth and 2012 state champ Ursuline will also compete in the national bracket, along with North Canton Hoover (Ohio), Central Dauphin (Pa.), Wilson (Pa.) and McDonogh (Md.).

Caravel, Padua, St. Mark's, Concord, St. Thomas More, Caesar Rodney, Delaware Military Academy and Tatnall will compete in the tournament's other brackets, along with St. Vincent Pallotti (Md.), Damascus (Md.), John Carroll (Md.) and Harriton (Pa.). Pairings for all of the brackets will be announced later.

Gretchen also announced that the 2012 Diamond State Classic contributed $13,000 to the B+ Foundation, $4,000 to Special Olympics Delaware and $2,000 to Kay's Kamp.
