Well if Mother Nature and the Baseball Gods can get along, we might have some baseball this weekend. Temps should be in the mid to upper 50's, but we will have some pretty wet fields.

Saturday marks the beginning of the 2015 season for some teams.

Upstate we have:

Mtown @ Archmere - Mtown finished the season losing 3 of its last 4 games last season and finishing 9-9, missing the playoffs. Archmere went 16-2 last season, then lost 14-0 in the second round of the playoffs to Dover. Last year these two teams met to start the season with Mtown going up 3-1 in the first, but Archmere's bats exploded the rest of the game to win 11-3. Sean Deely is gone for Archmere.

Delmar @ Appo - Delmar started the season last year 6-1, but finished 5-6, backing into the playoffs and losing in the first round to St Marks. Appo was quite the opposite starting 1-6 and finishing 8-3. Delmar should have its pitching back, while Appo lost quite a few seniors. Delmar won a lackluster game over Appo last year to start the season.

Downstate

North Caroline, MD @ Milford. Milford started the season beating NC 12-1, but it was pretty much the highlight of the season finishing 6-12.

Conrad @ Delmarva Christian. Conrad had a very good season last year going 12-6 and finally making the playoffs. They lost a close game in the first round of the playoffs to Hodgson. Conrad has pitching issues but shouldn't have any problem with a Delmarva team that went 2-14 last year.

Newark Charter @ Sussex Tech. Newark Charter is commencing its first year in baseball, going up against a playoff team from last season.

Caravel @ Cape Henlopen. Caravel coming off a championship in 2014, has quite a few losses from last years team and a major injury i hear. But don't underestimate Caravel, they still are the champs and will have a top 5 team this year. Cape had quite a weird year last year. They started 2-4, won 5 straight including a win in Hawaii, then returned home from Hawaii and lost their final seven games. Caravel beat Cape 10-0 to start the season last year.

St Marks @ Indian River. St Marks is coming off a successful 2014 (16-2) but a championship game loss. St Marks is poised to be there again in 2015. Indian River hasn't had a winning season in the last four years, finishing 4-14 last year. St Marks blanked IR 14-0 last year during game 5

I went to the UD v Hofstra game. With that new turf field, they were able to plow the snow off the field
