In the Miller vs Realbuto at NCAAs today the refs and the table muffed the score. The coach didn't protest and the wrong guy won. On review NCAA said tough cookies for the young man who lost.. The only people who had no say in this stupid kerfuffle were the 2 combatants. Those who sacrificed all their careers as wrestlers, at their biggest event ever, had to remain mute due to "the rules" I sure hope the officials and the table help were relieved. The coach should be roundly excoriated. NCAA made a hash of this years tournament with the worst ever seeding and this match decision was plain stupid. How about an OT 1: 30 30 to decide the match right after the review last night or 1st thing Fri. morning. Cornell coaching saw it happen and remained mute. So much for sportsmanship..

I agree. This wan't a judgment call in the heat of the action. Everyone knows what the score should have been, there is no gray area. Give the kid the point, put them back on the mat for the time that was left and you have a fair decision. It's really that easy, and no one would complain because it's completely fair. It's bogus for the NCAA to say "well the coaches could have protested". What ever happened to doing the right thing and getting it right.

Here's the Track Wrestling scoresheet:

Track will not allow a takedown to be entered if no escape is first scored if one wrestler has control. The scorer simply overrode that and entered a '+2'. They should have called the ref over because Track, by not showing the 'takedown' scoring option was telling them something was wrong.
