Wrestling announces talented 2020 signing class

OREM, Utah - Head Utah Valley University wrestling coach Greg Williams has announced his latest signing class and it features a total of nine highly talented future Wolverines.
The nine signees come from a total of four western states in Dawson Collins (Grand Junction, Colo.), Jaxon Garoutte (Pueblo, Colo.), Sawyer Hobbs (St. Anthony, Idaho), Tyson Humpherys (Layton, Utah), Kase Mauger (Wendell, Idaho), Braxton Mikesell (Spokane, Wash.), Stockton O'Brien (Woodland, Utah), Danny Snedicker (Vancouver, Wash.), and Tanner Lofthouse (Avon, Utah).
"This is a great signing class for us. It includes a group of young men which have had a great deal of success on the national scene and they will move to the college level with confidence," Williams said. "They are also exceptional in their personal lives. We are excited to welcome them to our Wolverine family"
Collins is a current senior at Grand Junction High School in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he has been a two-time state finalist for the Tigers. He was also crowned the 2018 state champion, and also posted a third-place finish at state a season ago. Collins, who is a three-time region champ, and will compete at 125 pounds for the Wolverines.
Garoutte is also a current senior at Pueblo County High School in Pueblo, Colorado, where he has been a two-time state finalist and a 2019 state champion for the Hornets. He is currently ranked 18th in his weight class by both FloWrestling and InterMat, and is a former NHSCA All-American as well as a 2018 Reno TOC finalist. Garoutte also placed third at state as a freshman as well as earned 2019 Super 32 All-American honors. He will compete at 149/157 pounds for UVU.
Hobbs too is a current high school senior at South Fremont High School in St. Anthony, Idaho, where he has won a trio of state championships for the Cougars. He has also earned NHSCA All-American accolades and was crowned the Post Register Wrestler of the Year in 2019. Hobbs will compete at 184 pounds for Utah Valley.
Humpherys is a senior at Layton High School in Layton, Utah, where he has won a trio of state titles for the Lancers. He is also a NHSCA All-American and his older brother Brayden too previously wrestled for the Wolverines. Humpherys will compete at 141/149 pounds for the Wolverines.
Mauger is also a current senior at Twin Falls High School in Twin Falls, Idaho, where he has won a pair of state championships for the Bruins. He is also a two-time Folkstyle All-American as well as a three-time Fargo All-American. Mauger was also a Cadet Greco-Roman World Team member in 2017 and currently holds a 126-8 high school career record. He will wrestle at 125 pounds for UVU.
Mikesell is a senior at Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley, Washington, where he recently won the 2019 state championship for the Bears. He is currently ranked ninth in his weight class by FloWrestling and is a Cadet World Team member in Greco. Mikesell is also a former USA Folkstyle National Champion, a Greco-Roman National Champion, a two-time freestyle All-American, both a Greco and freestyle Pan American Champion, and a 12-time All-American. He will compete at heavyweight for Utah Valley.
O'Brien is a current high school senior at Wasatch High School in Heber City, Utah, where he has been crowned a three-time state champion wrestler for the Wasps. He is listed as No. 145 on the FloWrestling Senior Big Board and is a two-time NHSCA All-American. O'Brien has also earned USAW Folkstyle All-American honors as well as a trio of regional titles. He will wrestle at 141/149 pounds for the Wolverines.
Snediker too is a current senior at Union High School in Vancouver, Washington, where he has won a pair of state titles for the Titans. He is also a 2019 Gut Check champion as well as a FloReno Worlds champion. Snediker will compete at 157/165 pounds for UVU.
Lofthouse previously signed with UVU in 2018 and is currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Jose, California. He will return home this summer and too will come to UVU in the fall of 2020. Lofthouse is a graduate of Mountain Crest High School (Hyrum, Utah) where he was a four-time state placer and a 2018 state champion wrestler for the Mustangs. He also earned USA Folkstyle All-American honors and is the nephew of UVU assistant coaches Ethen and Luke Lofthouse. Tanner will compete for the Wolverines at 165/174 pounds.
The majority of the incoming signees are scheduled to join the Wolverines for the 2020-21 season.
