Padua got out of the gate slow, but turned it around in the second half, still coming up 1 goal short vs rival Saint Marks.
Senior Delaney Witherell led the team in scoring with 3 goals, Erin Sentman had one and one while Panda newcomers Junior Tatum Williams had 1 and 1 and speedy Freshman Sophia Curtis found the back of the net twice, Mary Barone finished with 1 assist.
The defense was paced by seniors Delaney Armstrong (1 caused turnover, 4 ground balls, 2 interceptions) and Molly Griffin (2 caused turnovers, 5 ground balls, 1 interception). Kate McClennan, Caitlyn Kennedy and Bridget Furlong played well in their first varsity starts.
Senior midfielder Kiera McCormick scooped up 4 ground balls, while sophomore Shannon Salerni was over the field redefending ending the day with 1 caused turnover and 3 ground balls.
Brie Kindig and Abby Johnson split halves and had a combined 5 saves on the day.
Not the outcome we were looking for, but lots of positives to build on.
The Pandas are home vs Friends on Thursday. St. Marks was led by Leah Pala and Lindsay Sawyer each with 3 goals, Erin Nolte 2 goals
