LETS PLAY SOME BALL>>>>

No downstate teams on tap for today...

GAMES OF THE DAY

Appo (3-1) @ Sallies (1-1). Appo lost their first game in a close one to 4th ranked Hodgson. Appo has defeated 3 straight teams (Concord, Newark & Delmar) convincingly outscoring them 31-3. Not the toughest challeges but they handled them as they should. Sallies lost a close one to Caravel and then won a lackluster game over Glasgow (2-4). Big game for both teams. A win here would solidify either team as a legitimate top ten team. The loser will have lost both of its only tough games of the season thus far. Way too early to hurt either team that loses, but this is a very good, early, statement game. Appo's pitching is doing well, only giving up less than 2 runs per game, but did give up 4 to Hodgson. Appo's bats are hot scoring over 8 runs per game, but again only scored 2 against Hodgson (but against one of the best pitchers in the state). Sallies 2 hit Glasgow and did limit Caravel to 8 hits in a 4-2 loss with its ace on the mound. Sallies has had 7 hits in each of its 2 games and has only plated 7 runners in two games. In 2014, their first and only ever meeting, Sallies scored a bunch of runs late to put Appo away 9-5.

St Georges (2-1) @ DMA (3-0). St Georges is ranked in the top ten, with its only loss a 1-run loss to Hodgson. St G handled Conrad pretty well winning 9-2 and beat Christiana 24-0 (3 tds & 2 pt conversions). DMA has started off 3-0 but playing the likes of St Thomas More (22-2), DEPSS (7-0) and Glasgow (3-0). DMA's pitching has only given up 11 hits in 3 games, two of which were shutouts. St Georges pitching (Feehery, Campbell, McGrath) have only given up 9 hits over 3 games, 2 of those games were against Hodgson and Conrad. St G bats have exploded against Conrad and Christiana, but fell silent against Walter of Hodgson. It will be interesting to see if DMA's pitching is for real and keep this to a close game to be won late. If history proves itself, this one will be close. these two teams have met 3 times in the past 3 years, all 1-run games. St G came from behind last year to get the win. In 2013 DMA had a walk off hit to win it and 2012 St G won 5-4.

Other games

Howard (0-4) @ Hodgson (3-1). Howard has started with 4 big losses and being outscored on average 13-2. This could get ugly. Howard has lost 12 straight games dating back to last year's 1-16 campaign. To say Hodgson has dominated this yearly matchup would be a HUGE understatement. In their past 16 meetings the closest game they ever recorded was a 6-0 forfeit by Howard in 2013. 14 of the 16 matchups were ended by the 10-run rule, a few times the 20-run rule was instituted...and half were shutouts. YIKES.

Delcastle (1-1) @ A.I. (2-1). Delcastle has a win against RL and a close loss to Charter in the final frame. A.I. had close wins against struggling Newark and Wm Penn and lost 14-2 to Smyrna. A.I. needs this one to keep pace. They historically haven't had much trouble with Delcastle.

Conrad (2-2) @ Dickinson (2-2). Conrad has struggled to start the season. Not counting their 25 runs against St Thomas More, in their other 3 games they have scored only 4 runs which includes a 1-0 win over Tatnall. Dickinson has had two big wins against weak teams and two big losses against good teams. This game should give us a better understanding of both teams. Conrad won a close game with Dickinson last year.

Bwine (2-0) @ Charter (2-0). Bwine beat Howard and Mckean by at least 10 runs. Charter won a couple of 1-run games against Glasgow and Delcastle. Charter won big last year.

Friends @ Tower Hill. Unbeaten Friends vs 3-1 Tower Hill in this Independent game.

St Andrews @ Tatnall. 0-5 St Andrews takes on 0-2 Tatnall. St Andrews is giving up 13 runs per game.

RLCA (1-2) @ Sanford (1-1).

Skool, thanks for the preview.

No surprises in the Howard vs Hodgson game. HVT won 14-1 in 5 innings.

Hopefully, the other games won't get rained out.

Got a classic brewing at Sals - Garrett vs Hinton

Appo leads 1-0 in the 6th. Both teams have loaded the bases and got no runs. Both teams with k's and dp's to get out of it.
