Beautiful sunshine today, but some soggy fields from the rain last night.

I haven't seen these games postponed.

TOP GAMES

Polytech (4-4) @ Milford (6-1). Poly needs this win to stay relevant in the Hen. North. Poly started 1-3, but came back with three wins to get on track. But they just lost a close one to Archmere 3-0 to get them back to .500. Poly is led by Haas (2-0) and Hanhauser (2-2) on the mound but they are giving up over 6 runs per game this season, but are actually are giving up 9 runs per game against TOP 20 teams. At the plate they have been shutout in 2 of the 4 games against top 20 teams. Milford has won 2 straight games and their only loss of the season was to Smyrna 12-7. Poly got shut out by Smyrna 12-0 if that helps put things in perspective. In addition Milford beat Central 8-2 while Poly lost to Central 17-7. Poly beat Milford by 10-run rule last season.

Dover (5-1) @ Smyrna (6-2). Dover is in a 3way tie for Henlopen lead at 4-1 while Smyrna is 4-2. Very big implications in this game. Dover started 4-0, then lost a close one to Tech 4-3. Dover rebounded nicely though with a big win over a hot Appo team by scoring 5 runs in the 4th inning to win 5-2. Rowley and Small are both 2-0 on the mound and Dover is only giving up 2 runs per game on average. They also are only averaging 1 error per game which is one of the best in the state. On offense they are leg by Graham who seems to gather multiple hits per game. Dover is averaging about 7 runs per game. Smyrna has won 5 straight games after a 1-2 start. They are led on the mound by Everage (3-1). Smyrna is only giving up 3 runs per game while scoring over 9 runs themself. At the plate they have Gillis, Dulin & Henderson leading the pack. Dover shutout Smyrna in 2014.

Mtown (6-2) @ St Georges (7-2). These two teams are probably in the same position at this point. Both have lost to their respective conference leaders and most likely will be counting playoff points to get into the playoffs. After starting 2-2, St Georges has won five straight games. It should be mentioned that St G's two losses were both 1-run losses with their opponents scoring the winning runs in the 6th inning. St Georges is playing well and could easily be undefeated at this point. They are averaging over 10 runs per game while only allowing 2 runs per game. At the plate they have Campbell, Feehery, McGrath and Guild (who has 2 dingers). Pitching they are led by McGrath (2-1), Feehery (2-0) and Campbell (1-1). Mtown has won 3 of its last 4 and its two losses were to top 10 teams (appo & Hodgson). Mtown is led on the rubber by Peluse (2-0) and Tomlin (2-1). McCallister is the leader at the plate. St Georges 10-run ruled Mtown last season.

Conrad (6-2) @ DMA (5-3). Conrad has won 5 straight games where they have only surrendered 2 runs in that period, including a big win over St Marks 4-1. Conrad i believe has surprised with its pitching this year. They have only given up 18 runs, and 9 of those came from their 9-2 loss to St Georges in their first game. Hyatt has won his last 3 games and improved to 3-2, while Bradigan is 3-0. Defensively Conrad is #2 in the state for fewest errors per game. At the plate is where Conrad is struggling a little. Despite their numbers of 52 runs in 8 games, if you take out the 36 runs they scored combined against Dickinson and St Thomas More, Conrad is averaging under 3 runs per game. DMA has lost 3 of its last 4 games after starting 4-0. DMA is similar to Conrad in at that they are struggling offensively, but doing well defensively. DMA has scored 54 runs in 8 games, but if you remove the 36 they score against St Thomas and Delmarva, they are averaging just 3 runs per game. DMA is only giving up just over 2 runs per game behind the pitching of Danz (2-2) and Ruggerio (2-1). This bodes well for a pitchers duel, but you never know in high school ball. In the past DMA had won their first 3 meetings winning by 1 run in all three. But the last two meetings Conrad has taken including Conrad winning this conference matchup last year 11-1.
