GAMES OF THE DAY

DMA (5-2) - Hodgson (6-1). After 2 straight losses (Arch&Penn), DMA got back to its winning ways beating Delmarva 14-0. Ruggerio and Danz both are having good seasons on the mound at 2-1, but both got their first losses of the season in their last games. Hodgson ranked #3 in the state has big wins over Mtown, Appo & St Georges all with Walter on the mound. Hodgson's only loss is to St Marks. Other than against St Marks, Hodgson has only given up 8 total runs in 6 games. I would expect Walter to on the mound today. Hodgson and Walter, pitched a 2 hitter against DMA last year.

Milford (4-1) at CR (3-3). After starting 4-0 against lesser opponents, Milford lost hard 12-5 to Smyrna. CR has lost 2 straight games against Dover and Archmere only scoring 1 total run in those two games. CR, despite a 3-3 record is giving up less than 3 runs per game. CR will have a tough 4 days...they have Mildford, Lake & Mtown over that period. Milford only has it slightly easier as they have CR, IR & Central over the next 4 days. CR beat Milford 6-1 in 2014, 4-0 in 2013 but losing twice in 2012 to Milford.

St Marks (6-1) @ Caravel (4-1). These two teams are the top 2 teams in the state this year and pretty much every year. One or the other has been the State Champs in 11 of the past 12 seasons. As we all know they have faced each other in the championship game the past two seasons with Caravel winning in 2014 and St Marks winning in 2013.

Odd that the St. Mark's @ Caravel game is not actually on the websites4sports calendar for today. But it does say "moved to 04/15" in the comments for the 4/14 game that was postponed.

St. Marks at Caravel - Both of these teams lost their last game, Caravel lost to Charter and St. Marks lost to Conrad. One of these teams is going to have 2 losses in a row after tonight's game. So I was wondering, when was the last time each of these teams lost 2 games in a row? Well, for St. Marks, they haven't lost 2 in a row since the 2013 season. Losses to Sallies and Sussex Tech. And for Caravel, they lost 2 in a row last season, to St. Joseph's (NJ) and St. Marks almost exactly a year ago on April 17th.

It actually may not be a bad thing to lose 2 in a row for these teams. Caravel won the state championship last year (so they recovered from losing 2 in a row pretty well). And St. Marks followed up their 2 losses in a row in 2013 with a state championship too.

It might not be a bad idea to tank this game!

Hodgson won 4-0. Walt threw a one hitter with 17 ks. With Walt on the mound I would put them the favor over anyone in the state.

St Marks did their best to tank the game in a 5-2 loss. Caravel scored 5 runs on only 3 hits.
