Semi's scores via twitter

Stan took Dixon out when they got the bucket and foul with 5.8 seconds left. After the free throw and the timeout, they tried to put him back in. The rule is time must come off the clock to re-enter. Even when poly was then shooting the FT no time came off the clock. Dumb rule yes!! However sometimes coaches get carried away with off def subs down the stretch. Easy for me to coach from the stands but with 5.8 maybe you leave him in incase you get a steal or maybe you got the off rebound on the FT. Like I said easy to coach from the stands

Sanford got a couple BS foul calls late in the game w/ under a minute left to keep them in it as well for those who were not there & are drinking this koolaid insinuating that they didn't earn that W tonight. Good hard fought game tonight by what I would say were the best 2 games in the state this year. Sallies could still prove me wrong Saturday but I'm taking Polytech.

There was a missed goaltending when Poly hit the backboard. Dixons 4th foul was a phantom.

Sanford got one call- Ayala's +1- that was a stupid play on Polys part. That was the only call on Poly in the last minute so I have no idea what you're talking about.... Other than trying to spin it for people who weren't there.

Poly played a great game, but the zebras certainly impacted the finish. I wasn't disputing the Dixon sub, but there were plenty of other calls... Ayala getting hit on the 3 for no call...etc... That went Polys way.

APboy, I didn't see much from Burnett tonight either but it was my first time seeing him so I'll assume that he just had an off night. After now seeing the majority of teams now though I'd have to say if I were a voter then Dover's Jordan Allen would be on my 1st Team All-State ballot along w/ Dixon, Donte, Mallory & probably Cale.

I could care less who won the game. But... there was some pretty bad calls at the end.

Sanford also lost the game by missing too many layups and foul shots or those calls would not have mattered.

Just for you doubters out there. Sallies Donte DiVincenzo is the best player in the state. It is not even a contest.

Cant wait to see what he does at the next level.

Anyone else see 8Yaz with his vintage Red Sox hat on sitting on the window sill right by the first concession stand on the left at the top of the stairs about 20 minutes before the first game?

Gotta give credit to Poly. They're better than I thought. My warriors didn't shoot the ball well and free throws were terrible but great season Sanford "We in there next year!!"

First thing I wanna say is. Who is this "POY" "1st team all state" Burnett kid cause he wasn't at the bob tonight. Also, donte showed how gret he is, doing EVERYTHING his team needed for a win.
Miley Dixon got bad end of a charge in the 2nd quarter and his 4th foul was an utterly ridiculous call. Sanford got a good look at the buzzer and I feel for the Evans kid. Tht floater will haunt him for a while

Doghead, Poly better have an answer for Donte & Shane. They're hungry for pasta & a Chip. I see them playing some zone so your boyz better be ready to adjust. I'll throw you a bone & you'll choke just like Sweet Poly Purebred will Saturday. LMAO!!!

I don't know who will win on Saturday but I do know that Brendan Hailey of the Sals should get COY. His team lost a lot from last year and struggled down the stretch (many on this board questioned if they could even get in the Tournament) yet here he is in in the finals again. Three years: one semi-final, one championship and one finals appearance. Not bad, not bad at all.

He got the opening tip too.

Easily he is the best player in the state it's always a pleasure to watch him play but I don't think he has it in him to beat the two headed dragon that poly has Mallory and Gray will be too much!!!

He'll get consideration, but let's be honest about things here. You could have a cut-out figure of John Wooden standing on the sideline, and you would be successful in Delaware basketball when you are sending #5 out on the court for you every game. We'll get to see how good of a coach Haley is next year.

COY is based on your coaching throughout the regular season...a regular season in which Sallies finished .500 at 10-10 (although a very tough schedule) w/ 6 in-state losses so I don't think that will get him COY. That's almost like giving POY to a kid who had a mediocre regular season but got hot in the tournament over a kid who was head & shoulders above others throughout the regular season but his team got bounced early in the tournament. I will credit Sallies' tournament hot streak to the obvious high-level play of Donte DiVincenzo who has put the team on his back & is on another level right now...that is not to take anything away from their coach but Donte is the reason that they are in the finals.

"We'll get to see how good of a coach Haley is next year."

Wittelsey and Brown will be veteran sophomores and they will be joined by key members of a 15-2 freshman team. Schedule will not be as demanding as this year. They will do ok I think.

Sallies has the numbers to always have a good freshman team in every sport. Other schools do not have that luxury. They may not have a team or play the better kids up to JV. Having a good freshman team does not always translate to varsity.

Looking over this years rosters and the returning players you would have to think that Sanford, Dover, Appo and Mount will be the top teams next year.

Thoughts on semis

I think Mount let Sals dictate the pace of the game. They had the better athletes and needed to make the game more up tempo. They waited too long to press.

Sals did a great job on the boards. Mount didn't get many second shots.

Agree Clark wasn't player of the game, but he outplayed Burnett. He is fearless.

In the second game, Chappell did a great defensive job on Dixon especially in the second half. Dixon had to work for everything he got.

Polytech is going to the finals but you still get the feeling they could be better if they posted up more with Mallory and Gray.

Lastly, we get to see Dante one last time. In my years going to games, he is one the best 2-3 players I have seen. Thanks for the ride Dante!

Probably in my top five or ten. But, I've been going to HS basketball games for a loooooooooooong time.

You had to be waiting for this. Name your top 10. How many 2's were better than this kid?

Could not agree more oldtimer22 and same goes for every sport Salesianum offers. Now.....-with the numbers they bring in they should never have a down year regardless of who they play. On a side note....what gives with their baseball program?

The freshman they're getting next year will make a bigger impact than the kids on their freshman team this year

Sorry oldtimer and pksundevil, but slapping the backboard is not goaltending! I think it should be, but check the rules, it is not! As for next year at Sallies, I'm not really a Sals fan, but their JV team was 14-6 and the freshmen were 15-2. They'll be tough again next year. Finally, as to Donte, he's the most fun player to watch since Elena!

St. Elizabeth also returns everybody basically. With the past couple years being down years, I think good competitive basketball is back for the next 2-3 years

Technically it's basket interference, but the outcome is the same- points are awarded,

They have three players guaranteed in curtis watkins top 15 and then there are two other players still deciding between schools and sallies is in their final two. Those two players are in curtis top 10

Mark this one down. I agree with Yaz. I will be concerned about next year when the game is over tomorrow.

When the game is over tomorrow I will begin to obsess about football.

Saw Burnett four times this year. I was wowed the first time I saw him, against Newark, 30 pts, carried MTP down the stretch in the 4th quarter to victory. The other three times I saw him, he was just OK, wasn't even the best player on the floor for his team, including against Sallies in the Semis. He's very talented, needs to work on squaring up his outside shot and if he's serious about getting better, he should consider spending some time in the weight room during the off-season.

8yaz, still waiting to hear about the 5-10 HS players you've seen better than Donte. I've been watching since he late 60's......

A few off the top of my head that I've seen that fall into that top 10 aRE Erik Edwards, Terence Stansbury, Dexter Boney, Mark Harris, Trevor Cooney, Walter Davis, Joe Dunning, AJ English (father of kid at Iona now) . There are more that aren't coming to mind right now. Saw Edwards score 61 points in a game for Wilmington. Most dominating performance I've ever seen in a HS basketball game.

Your right it is not goal tending but it is a technical foul if the ball was on the backboard or rim. It was! Foul shots and the ball back.
