Four Marauders place in W&J Invitational

Washington, Pa. – Four Millersville University wrestlers placed in Saturday's Washington & Jefferson Invitational. Ryan McGuire took third, Ryan Juarez placed fourth, and Anthony Yacovetti and Reece Muldoon placed fifth.

INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
• Freshman 133-pound Ryan McGuire finished in third place with a 15-0 technical fall victory over Vinnie Catania of W&J in the consolation semifinals. McGuire began his day with a 6-2 decision over Washington and Lee's Russ Zimmerman. Then McGuire pinned Dylan Winters' of Waynesburg at the 6:19 mark in the fourth round.
• 141-pound sophomore Ryan Juarez concluded his day in the third-place match after losing a 6-5 decision against Muskingum's Sammy Southers. In the championship bracket, Juarez lost a 16-0 technical fall to Wheeling Jesuit's Brandon Tenney. In the first two matches of the day, Juarez picked up an 11-2 major decision and 3-2 decision.
• Freshman 165-pound Anthony Yacovetti won his last three matches. Yacovetti captured fifth place in his first collegiate invitational. In the fifth-place match, Yacovetti earned a 12-0 major decision victory.
• At 174 pounds, freshman Reece Muldoon placed fifth. Muldoon won four straight bouts once he hit the consolation bracket. Muldoon began with a pin in the first round over Lycoming's wrestler but then lost in the second round against Joe Scott of Washington and Lee by 14-5 major decision. Muldoon pinned his opponent 18 seconds into his consolation second round.
• Freshman Ryan Kokawski finished 3-2 on the day. Kokawski pinned his opponent at the 2:59 mark in his championship first round matchup. After losing in the second round, Kokawski won with two major decisions.

NOTES
Anthony Wiggins earned his first victory as a Marauder.
• In his collegiate debut, freshman Joshua Walls went 3-2.
• Three Marauders scored four pins.

UP NEXT
• The Marauders get set to begin conference action on Friday, Nov. 16 when they travel to Pitt-Johnstown at 7 p.m. Marauders are No. 18 in NWCA preseason rankings.
