D2 is between Potter from Caravel and one of the RBs from Woodbridge.
D1 is up in the air.

Truth what are you making up your own awards now? I agree with HS pretty cut and dry at this point

The running backs from DMA, and Tower Hill are having memorable seasons as well, but Potter is the clear favorite right now in D2. And D1 is Henry and Debo. I would love to see that matchup. Debo’s blitzing capabilities and intensity, against Henry’s run and decision making. Winner get some my nod for POY. I’d be happy if they did it for all 3

Henry/Potter POY
Henry/Potter OPOY
Debo DPOY
Hugo LOPY

DIFCA only does

OPOY
DPOY
LOY

Theres is no separation for D1 or D2 or a POY

Gatorade does the POY but that is a whole different thing and someone has to nominate the player for that online ( normally the coach or AD) and it includes Performance, Grades and Community Service as criteria for the chosen winner. No one in DE has a say in who wins that just some committee at Gatorade Corporate HQ ... They pick just based on whats on the application/nomination..500 characters or less for each criteria. No film nor proof collected

Here is what that looks like and the info collected.. deadline for nomination is 11/25 and winner announced 12/06.. So they take a week to choose one for each state. Obviously there is no vetting or investigating.. just simply by the numbers and info sent in.. Honor system

We can do a DEPREPS poll though.. post you nominations and I will make a poll with 3 choice each spot

D1
POY
OPOY
DPOY
LOY
COY

D2
POY
OPOY
DPOY
LOY
COY

It would be redundant to make the POY also the OPOY or DPOY so if say Debo gets nod for POY then the second DPOY vote getter would get DPOY visa versa

I'll throw some names out there. Will need help with lineman for sure

Henry-HVT
Peace-Dover
Debo-Smyrna
Potter-Caravel
Sanchez-Smyrna

Some observations

Sallies with the most with 6 (but no Troy Reeder?)
Not many choices south of Dover
They don't seem to have a problem awarding defensive player or linemen although not in recent history

A where are they now could be fun.. I know some

Badson- lives and works in the area son went to HS with my son and currently plays for UD

Godwin- Obvious NFL Tampa Bay

Wade- Attending Bowling Green was starting QB although I believe was replaced with back up

Joey Wright- HC at St Marks

C Reeder- plays for UD (currently on IR)

Of course Henderson and Knight at UD also

I know Kilpatrick had a good LAX career at UNC not sure what he is up to now

Harmon - Retired NFL..well I assume retired

Selby twins went and played at Del State not sure if they are done yet..

That is all I know I am sure some of you old heads can expand on it..

Harmon is the back up to the Mcourtey twins. He still leads the team in interceptions. He has for a few years. Solid starting safety playing back up.

Kwoka transferred to Sallies.. He has been making plays here and there. platooning in. He will take over for Yelbert next year,, Actually I would put Yelbert ahead of Harp at this point

WB has a DL creating havoc wish I could remember the name.. as for D2 DPOY might have to look to DB's but I don't know the names.. Maybe someone with a good amount of picks.. Gonna need the peanut gallery to help us here lol

I disagree. I don’t think Yelbert is playing to the caliber that he did last year. I’ve seen enough games, and last year, he was nasty. This year, I’m not as worried about him if I was lining up against him as I would be this time last year. Therefore my vote goes to Harp.

Sorry, I meant to say overall since he’s came into the league. I may still be wrong, it just seems like every year he comes away with multiple interceptions

Harmon is 16th all time in INT's for NE with 17.. He led NE in INT's in 2017 and 2018 with 4 each year

Potter Caravel
Dennard Delmar
Johnson Lake
Tower Hills QB (forgot his name, help)
Dixion Friends
Massy Woodbridge

Any of these players could win. All will have over 1000 yards rushing

I agree with HS, Yelbert not having the year he had last year. Kwoka is a beast, plays with passion and only a 10th grader.

How about that runningback from Delcastle? He is putting up some numbers. Didn't expect that to be the case and apparently this is his first year as the back

I know he won’t get it because of team record but KJ Custis of Sussex Tech is worthy of offensive player of the year! If not 1st team all state hands down!

Kwoka is an animal going to be a great one

Please just go on MaxPreps and look at Vonnie Peace's numbers. The OPOY really shouldn't even be a discussion. And just so we can appreciate this young man's high school career a little more, last week he scored his 80th, 81st, and 82nd touchdowns of his career. That's in 2 seasons and 8 games worth of play mind you. In all honesty he should've won it last year too.

Peace(5-4) vs Henry(9-0) by the Maxpreps numbers

Peace- Rushing 1449 yds 22 td Rec 252 3 td 1701 tot yds 25 td
Henry- Passing 1740 yds 22 td 1 int QBR 141.3 Rush 289 6 td.. 2029 tot yds 28 tds

Just going by stats both are deserving.. Couple issues looking to Maxpreps for validation. 1. only 30% of the teams even post stats 2. Many people think the teams cook their stats for Maxpres so they are taken with a grain of salt.

I am afraid Peace drum beaters are going to be upset when the votes come in.. .

Vonnie did miss a game with an injury and his numbers are extremely accurate on MaxPreps. I'm well aware that several teams don't post numbers to MaxPreps but if someone has more rushing yards or TD's I think we'd have an idea. As far as the team records go this isn't an MVP award (which he's definitely Dover's MVP) this is an offensive player of the year award. I could get behind Henry too though, he's had a great season and is deserving as well.

If I had a vote I would probably go Henry but I do agree with you Peace should have gotten it last year over Fry

Both are having great years. I am glad I don’t have a vote because it would be tough to choose. But I say they vote for Peace because he is a Senior and Henry is a junior.

Not that I agree with that thinking but it is an easy way out.

An argument you could make for Peace over Henry is Peace is doing it pretty much on his own. I saw HVT live for the first time this year and at field level. Henry is definitely surrounded by studs everywhere. Line, receivers, rb all big, fast and athletic. There didn't seem to be a weakness on O out there

I think Dover has studs everywhere too, they just aren't coached up or used right? How many kids go to Dover HS?

Dover High is just fine, they’re coached the same as last year when they went 9-1, led the state in scoring, and lost to the state champs by 1 point in the final seconds of overtime. They lost some key players and are young at some important spots. They’re playing really well right now. HVT is loaded, a whole other level right now.

Just to put Henry's QBR of 141.3 in perspective.. That is in the top 5% of the country of QB's who have attempted 30 passes or more
