Will start going through the tiebreaker opponent wins and losses for the 5 teams.. I have them just going to double check them before posting. Waiting on WP and Concord result

Incorrect... If Delmar only plays 4 games there games do not count. CR now only has 4 wins. No bonus point for Smyrna or Central. That puts HVT and SG in the tournament.

Damn nice catch.. man.. this is crazy.. nor would they get Delmars 3 wins on their opponent wins

This should be it if they go by the rules as written in the DIAA manuel

A team must play a minimum of five (5 ) games at the varsity level in order to be considered for the tournament. Forfeits will count toward satisfying this requirement. Only those opponents who have played a minimum of a five game varsity schedule will be included in a team’s record. Forfeits will count toward satisfying this requirement. Games cancellations due to COVID-19 will be considered No Contest.

So... Donna Polk's promise that no team will get hurt from Covid related cancellations, just how far down the daisy chain does that go?

Delmar had 3 games canceled due to Covid, none of them their fault. If Delmar had been able to play those games, they could have been in a position to qualify for the tournament. So Delmar is is being "hurt from Covid related cancellations".

You can argue that if Delmar had played those games they still would not have qualified for the tournament, but that is irrelevant if the criteria is "no team will get hurt from Covid related cancellations". Delmar was hurt by not even having the chance to compete for the tournament.

Hell with the *tournament.. BOWL GAMES..8 teams each conference

D2
Woodbridge vs Delmar
Archmere vs Howard
St Marks vs Red Lion
Newark vs DMA

D1
Smyrna vs Middletown
Central vs St Georges
HVT vs CR
Cape vs Sallies

I actually like that suggestion. We all know whoever wins the championship this year anyway was gonna get them with a little asterisk next to it. So why not do bowl games.

and we can end this thing a week earlier.. Imagine if the championship games get hit with a covid cancellation argh.. besides it will make the Governor happy lol

There seems to be some misunderstanding about the Hen South not naming a champion. They are not putting it on the football committee to name one for them. They simply are not submitting a team for their autobid so the spot is open for at large teams to fill the playoff field based on point index. The points could have worked out where neither team got in and would have if DMA would have won.

Now you could argue the HSC waited until after they knew the points would work out that one of their teams would get in but that is not against the rules. Personally I think they were waiting to see what happened with the Laurel and Delmar game..

Really the question at hand is if they will give Delmar a waiver for the minimum 5 games rule knowing if they do Delmar wouldn't get in anyway. Upon that decision then they will decide how it applies across the board to Delmar's opponents. There is no rule for that so it will probably be up for debate and a motion made and voted on.

With the other sports they just waived the qualifier but didn't get into the effect on the point systems and what not.

I am assuming if they grant Delmar the waiver (even though they won't qualify anyway) then their games would also count for all the teams that played them and would change the playoff field. So you are not really voting for Delmar to get in but for Central to get in over HVT ( also depending on how they interpret the tiebreaker rules).. Very interesting

On the other hand if the interpretation is St G can't get in over HVT in a tiebreaker situation then none of this matters and the seeds would remain as they are if Delmar doesn't count...
