Is there a schedule released yet for the 7v7 league? I want to watch some of the games this year.

Heard the NCC High School league ( assume this is the one you’re asking about) starts Tuesday, 6/21 . Don’t believe the schedule is out yet

Yes starts Tuesday after blue gold. I think games will be Tuesday and Thursday again this year

blue gold practices start this week. Game will be at delaware but practices are not. I heard CR and Tower hill are the practice sites and also the inter squad scrimmages

Does anyone have a link to the teams that are in the NCC 7on7? Or the full schedule? Is it too early?

Schedules willl probably be out end of the week. Most likely the same teams as last year. Elkton plays sometimes if there is room I know Middletown will be one of the host sites this year. Last year they did not host becauelse if getting new turf. I would guess at George’s carvel AI and st marks will also host

Ferris Home Improvements is the best team name followed closely by Middletown Farm Service and the Muscle Movement Spartans

Thanks for posting the schedule

So the games are underway …. how’d everyone do ? Who’s looking good? Any reports?

A Friend up in Wilmington said Sallies and St Marks looked really good. Although they only played FSMA and Odessa. He said Sallies has a ton of Speed compared to other years.

I’ve seen Newark, Conrad, St. Elizabeth’s, Delcastle and Middletown.

Newark - much of the same that I said last year. Idk how this team isn’t more competitive as they are. They have athletes all over the field. They have size and speed but in all 5 of their losses last year (Concord, DMA, St. Marks, Lake Forest, and Delmar) they couldn’t score more than 5 points was out scored by double digits. I’ll go on a limb and say that won’t be the case this year. I like what they have.

Conrad - I was always under the impression that this was a decent team waiting for a star to show up so it can compete, but at times, most of the time they looked lost. Multiple players in the same area on offense and defense. Didn’t have anyone that really stuck out to me. This could be a young team though so maybe they put it together as time goes on.

Delcastle - Pretty similar to Newark in regards. They have some receivers/running backs that look and play the part. Made contested catches, out on the after burners and sometimes never got touched. Kids ran excellent routes, they knew where to be and got there when they needed too and was always around the ball. I was impressed. I don’t think this is a 3-7 team like they were last year.

St. Elizabeth’s - IMO this team rides or dies with Quasim Benson. He’s their bell cow and you can easily tell it’s gonna be out on his shoulders come September. The whole 7on7 game they liked Benson in slot, he’d run 5 yards, turn to the middle of the field and the QB rolled out, and they would connect the majority of the time. In 7on7 that play won’t work cause you need to gain 20 yards on 4 plays for a touchdown, if your touched play is dead. During the season however he can easily break them for big gains. The QB was rough putting it farther than 5 yards but off-season workouts will hopefully clean that up.

Middletown - The new QB wasn’t present for week 1 but was yesterday. The Cavs are in great hands for the present and future at that position. Austin Troyer looks to be Braden Davis successor and will do a great job at doing so. Last years backup Matt Kolbjernson has improved tremendously and is making Austin earn it but there is clearly a difference in talent there. The freshman Darien Cunningham looks everything as advertised, with size, speed, and accuracy (for a 9th grader), but like most freshman tends to get too nervous before the play. More time on the field and in the playbook he should clean that up and has a chance to be one of the better QBs that Middletown has had. I don’t think the Cavs have lost anything outside despite losing Caldwell and Tart. Every one of the receivers gets separation, has good speed, and goes for the ball, doesn’t let it come to them. Both running backs look more tuned and quicker, Defense looked great the first week, but not so much this week. Missing 4/5 starters due to camps the young guys were in quite a bit and struggled at times. Overall, I still think Middletown is Top 2/3 in the state,

Was the 3 Star transfer Safety from Roman Catholic playing in any of the games?

A little rusty playing with new guys for the first time. …. But he’s very athletic. Had an interception like the 2 or 3rd play

Not that I keep up with the preseason stuff. But I would be absolutely amazed if there’s no drop off at WR from the Tart kid Middletown had the last few years. Kids like that don’t come around every year!

Any other year I’d agree with you but they have a kid named Matt Priestley, who is playing like Tart. Albeit it’s only 7on7. But I really like what I see so far. It’s only two weeks into 7v7 and all the receivers haven’t played together yet. Tyrene Hynson from last year was very under appreciated due to Zyaire and Zach. You’re gonna see him Flourish this year. Matt is going to be a great complimentary piece to Hynson. Another kid who I’ve liked the last couple years is Noah Kracyla. Him and Matt are almost a splitting image of themselves in what they can do on the field. I wouldn’t be surprised if this Roman Catholic safety plays some Receiver as well. Like I said I don’t think the offense will dip that much in production if at all. The defense has me worrisome though. Losing your entire 3 lineman in Durajaye, Harris and Burke. That 3 man pressure they were able to establish gave offensive coordinators fits every game. That’s gonna be hard to replicate.

I should add DMA beat St Joes prep last year in 7v7. 7v7 is always a weird game crazy stuff can happen but to be 1-3 against those teams is not a good look. We’ll see what happens when everyone puts the pads on.

They also had the Green boys Coombes and McCloskey last year.. those guys can make a difference in 7v7 also but yeah 7v7 is what it is. It used to be meaningless when everyone ran wing T and a 4-4 D and teams just used it as practice to run their plays. It's a little better gauge now that mostly everyone is running spread and Cover 2.. at least in evaluating their ballers.

DMA was also 8-2 in this league last year.. so.....🤷‍♂️

Middletown being 3-1 isn't all that interesting but considering one of these teams beat them is.. MT has played Conrad, Newark, Delcastle and St E's

MT's 7v7 schedule is suspect... LOL

Conrad
Newark
Delcastle
St. E's
HVT
Red Lion
McKean
Odessa
FSMA
Appo

no Smyrna, Sallies, Dover, St Georges, Caravel, DMA, St Marks, Howard, Lake..

I have a question for you all. Does anyone feel that 7v7 is a true indicator of how well a team will play during the fall? To me 7v7 doesn't mean much. I'm sure many coaches use this time to see what their reserves and new comers are able to do. There are no playoffs and many players miss games because of work, vacation, football camps, etc. I personally don't put much stock into these games. If anyone has a difference in opinion please provide your thoughts. Maybe I'm missing something.

I think it has it’s value but it also depends on the team. If it’s Sussex central why would I care about 7v7 results but if it’s Middletown or Smyrna I would care a lot more because that’s what those teams run in real games. Also 7v7 depends a lot on how many elite athletes you have. Teams can be really good at 7v7 but when real football comes around teams are better coached or have players that are very technically sound that beat teams that are more athletic. Just my thoughts tho.

You can look at the 7v7 results here going back to 2014 and compare the results to the correlating season results. You will find the top half 7v7 teams will be your better teams in the season and playoff teams. The bottom teams will be the teams that struggle in the regular season. More so in the last 5 years than before. BUT there are exceptions mainly for teams that are run heavy and on a rare occasion a team may do real good at 7v7 and then bomb in the regular season. The changes in the way the game is being played today has brought 7v7 more into the fold in terms of importance. For good or bad and as @SmrynaOnTopp said 7v7 is an athletes game and the real game has moved to that as well. Hell many college scholarship offers are based on nothing but athleticism shown at camps or 7v7 tournaments or as they say measurables.

This will be the biggest challenge for DMA this year. Essentially losing all of their Wideouts and a stud running back will be hard to replace. Outside of B.J. Alleyne and Dah-feir Watts this is the first real competition for many of the guys on the team. It could go either way foe DMA this year. But this could be a good way for the younger kids to grow now and be ready for the season. I think they will have to rely on the line to lead them. At this point it is the group that lost the least amount of players and luckily for them they are some big and athletic kids that should be able to protect and open holes.

Positives: helps to improve route running. Allows receivers to identify zone vs man and how to adjust route. QBs- gets them tons of reps and let’s them open it up.
defensively, and unfortunately they don’t do this enough it allows for guys to play press and man, while identifying spacing etc.

with all that said-i give it a 25% indication on how a team will perform come September. My reco would be no league. Take your team to 2-3 tourneys. Good team building, see different schools and colleges along the way. I do however think there are a couple of 7v7 with serious skills

@Longagoplayer although coach Lincoln gets beat up quite a bit on this site, he is still a really good coach. So I'm confident he will make sure his team is competing for a championship again this season. I feel adding Malvern Prep to the schedule should be a good experience for the team to prepare them for the playoffs. In your post you mentioned BJ, Dah-feir and the linemen that will be back, but you failed to mention Malcolm Roy. He seems to be an excellent athlete who started on varsity as a freshmen. I'm sure that athleticism and experience will translate on offense as an RB or WR.

I also heard DMA brought in a few transfers again this year that will be able to help the team immediately. Is this accurate? Or is it just the Coach Lincoln haters throwing shade?

Adding Malvern Prep for this year’s team is terrible. Same with Middletown with adding IMG and even Smyrna last year scheduling Bergen Catholic. DMA will loose that game by a lot and it would not be good for them. Coach Lincoln’s coaching ability will have to be on full force if they want to compete for a 2a state championship.

You're right I did not mention Malcolm. And that is on me. Malcolm is an excellent corner, and I forgot about him just because he rarely played offense last year just because of all of the earlier mentioned players. But you are correct getting him some opportunities on offense should help them. I know that there are a couple kids that did transfer to DMA but they also did so during last school year during either the winter or spring. There may be a couple that have come over the summer but I'm not sure who. I'm not sure what the Malvern game will be like for them but even if they are embarrassed I know it will only make them keep working to get better
