Was the Sallies staff notified well in advance of the game that Henderson would play. It looked very much like they practiced for Knight as quarterback. IDon't know If Tournament Comittee rules cover such a situation. If not, it would have been quite a surprise to see a player trot out on the field after being knocked senseless and carted off the field a week before. His return obviously was huge.

By watching their defense it was obvious they were prepared for him.. They played the spread pretty well overall... First half held them to 6 points.. I did not think their defense look confused.. etc..

That's the BIG QUESTION??? And that player sustained a cervical strain, not knocked senseless. His status was covered in the newspaper leading up to the game. If they didn't prepare for him, which I believe they did...mistake on their part. You are right about one thing though..."His return obviously was huge." Congrats to Coach Judy, his staff, and those deserving boys we call State Champions!

Yeah I thought the post was kind of odd... I mean how could sallies NOT prepare for him.. No matter what you prepare for him. Again from what I witnessed from watching the game I did not think that Sallies was not prepared for him.. I think they had a good game plan. Well played game. Not sure where that question came from..

If his status was covered in the paper I'd like to know which one. Given what happened to Henderson last week, the question is a valid one. I know this is not the NFL but the status of injured players there is almost always communicated well before game time.

Are you saying that Smyrna should be obligated to confirm whether QB was good to go before game? This was not a court of law with discovery and information required for full disclosure. If that is what you are implying, I never heard of such a requirement. I think any coach worth his whistle would keep that info close to the vest, as they did, by saying it would be a gametime decision. The other coach knew soon enough when he warmed up and stepped up to line with the other captains

One thing is for sure . The Henderson kid is a tough kid. Gets carted off last week and plays this week. Took some shots today too . In my opinion he's the best in the state .

Are you kidding me, you Sallies people are just too much..............

Disclosing injuries is an NFL rule not a high school rule. I thought the news journal article said that he was practicing during the week and was probably going to play .

There is no official injury report in high school so Smyrna wasn't obligated to say anything .

It's not gone to change the outcome. For all I know Knight might have run for 300 as QB. For the record, the Myers article on Friday said Henderson's playing status was "uncertain". Not trying to tarnish the day. I'd just like to know

The NFL and NCAA injury report rules are because of sports betting. Coach Judy may have been a little coy on Henerson's playing status but the newspaper said he was cleared to practice. Everybody thought the kid would play. Dovetail, you must be tortured by this loss to be mulling this over.

Coach Judy just texted me and said he was playing LOL

Bigger question might be why the backup QB for was a backup
So I'll tell ya what some of the Sallies fans are saying and probably just because their butt hurt. Or does it hold any weight? Smyrna played a crap schedule with numerous mediocre teams and couldn't beat Sallies WITH their back up QB in regulation time and had to go to OT to get it done. Sallies clearly the better team regardless of what the score board said. Opinions???

? was where was that QB all season

My answer....Mediocre teams? We play in a conference, not much choice in who we play. Don't have that luxury(or headache) of choosing all 10 opponents. Did add Sals to the schedule this year...how many public schools w/up and coming fball programs are doing that? Thought Sals QB did a fine job passing, and has a bright future. Didn't look as comfortable running the ball as the first string but I was impressed overall based on the situation he was thrown into. The difference in this game was stopping the Sals RB who rushed for 94 yds, not 408 like last time. The game was not decided by the losing team's QB. He didn't cost you the game. Would the final play have been any different with the first string QB in there? Sals is still the better team regardless of the score? Sals should have a better team...they have twice as many players to choose from as Smyrna...and from surrounding states. We have what we have from our school district...and what we have this year are the State Champs! Although, I didn't think Sallies played all that well. Burning T.O.'s on special teams and having too many on the field, muffed extra points, etc. None of those are QB issues. Note, that I also thought our Eagles could have played better but it's only the score at the end that matters. MT was one play away from being our opponent yesterday so are they as good as Sals? You can what if every football game to death. Another question, how was the pick before half not a touchback? A handful of questionable spots in that game! It's almost as if Smyrna was not supposed to win...which makes it that much sweeter.

I don't know a Sallies with that opinion. When you hear majority of fans yelling dig deep defense it's because they respect the opposite teams offense. Your comment is strange

Smyrna won the Battle of First Down. If you can hold a run oriented team to 3 yards or less on first down you have a good chance of forcing a punt and another scoring opportunity. They did. Zach Gwynn does have a bright future. Very polished, good mechanics. Will his coach allow him to throw more than 30 times a season?

A guy named Ballmustard using the term "butt hurt". That's funny.

No Sallies fan alive is saying those things but you. You must be the one who's butt is hurting. I'm guessing your just trying to stir the pot for no apparent reason.

I sat on the Sallies side and they were very gracious in defeat . Lots of praise for Smyrna. The only butt hurt was from sitting on those old bleachers at Del Stadium.

Symrna played a fine game as did Salesianum. Symrna has a well deserved State Champiionship and the best damn high school band I have ever seen

I really don't know much about football. Never played and I'm very ignorant as to the fundamentals of the game. Just saying what I heard/was told and trying to learn. There's a lot of posters on here that are in my opinion game experts. Just trying to educate myself my friend.
I would suggest contacting Bummy. He sees thing nobody else does Very cutting edge Delaware high school football just hasn't caught up to him yet

Gotta love this guy and all 4 of his posts. Probably was lurking on these boards all season before getting up enough gumption to make a fool of himself.

I'm not on Facebook.......thanks.

The post you made was moronic. Who cares what schedule Smyrna played. Last 2 weeks they beat WP and Sallies. Back up QB or not Smyrna won the game. So what if it was in OT. Smyrna was the better team yesterday. If they played 10 times I'm not sure who would win more but it doesn't matter. The Smyrna Eagles are the state champions and it's well deserved.

That game yesterday was one of the best high school games I've ever seen and the atmosphere was electric.

Did you go to the game yesterday and if you did what did you think ?

Chance to redeem yourself .

Not sure what you expected Ballmustard .

Someone who creates a screen name to call the Sallies fans "but hurt" just to stir the pot . Who does that?

Go back to Facebook.

Kinda seems like you're a Smyrna fan and just want to talk trash . Grow up and win with class.

You interpreted what he was asking as trying to troll sallies? I feel like he's trying to take a shot at Smyrna. He said Smyrna played a crappy schedule and sallies was clearly better and Smyrna needed sallies to have a backup qb to barely win in overtime....re-read his post and let me know

He said that "butt hurt" sallies fans were saying that. I can read just fine . He's trying to get someone from Sallies to say something bad about Smyrna. Pretty obvious to me.

In fact, really strange and borderline stupid. Simply meant to incite the thread. The Sals fans I know and they are many, have nothing but respect for Smyrna - the kids and coaches. They did an outstanding job and they game planned perfectly, making solid adjustments at the half. Something the Sals did not do.

Was just looking for clarification on your "butt hurt" comment.

Obviously you had no point. Why don't you just admit you wanted to stir the pot . It's ok. You're not the 1st douche bag to do it.

It's not my board but and I could care less what people think of me.

Bring something more than "butt hurt" to the board. You have to admit that is pretty lame as a 1st post.

I'd echo you WS- I know for a fact that both fanbases and teams/staffs respect each other to the fullest. It was a tremendous game and no one should be disgruntled the slightest. Salesianum played their hearts out as did Smyrna. No harm in that. Someone had to win. Both staffs had great gameplans in place...both defenses stifled the opposing beast.

I don't understand how some people on here can't accept that and need to either criticize a coach, player/team, refs etc. Unreal. Thanks to all the posters who "get it" and keep this site moving despite the ridiculously childish comments at times.
