So now that they have their 1st quality win under their belt, I decided to take a look at the schedule. The out of state teams they have are a complete joke. O'Hara ranked 268 in PA and Judge 112.

And many of their in state opponents are not as strong as it appears:
CR/Dover/Tech and SM are not the same teams as last year.....
WP is good but again-not last years quality
Concord-same deal
MT- they have been on a decline since 2012-although their record says differently, wins vs all them Flight A teams do not add up to much....

....not saying they have a cupcake schedule because they do not.....but this is not even close to the hardest schedule in the state and it makes me ponder when was the last time they played a schedule like this. Despite Bummy's best efforts to build up their opponents LOL

If you use Bummy as a frame of reference - the Big S has the toughest schdule imaginable. That's because he picks the Sals to lose every week. Look at this as a measure --- who plays more teams that will end up in the state FB tourney?

.....who is the best? Wm. Penn until somebody beats them.

Even if that is the case they still don't have as many easy games as the Flight A top teams.

Middletown played Charter last week and faces Delcastle this week.

MAXpreps has Sallies schedule ranked 10th of 18 among DE D1 teams at 7.7.. Sallies SOS is typically around the 20 pt range

For the record Jawnsky Flight A though very weak has placed 7 out of the last 10 finalist in the past 5 years, winning 3x. What does that say for the rest of the state. And how can you say that MT has been on the decline since 2012 they have made an appearance in the finals the last 5 seasons, maybe they haven't been as dominant as the 2012 team but still better than 16-17 out of 18 other D1 teams.

Ches/all....maybe I got "BumNoTized" LOL
to be fair to the program, I was really just going from the previous years and some of the powerhouses they traveled to or hosted at Baynard.....think Poly Prep/Steubenville etc.

Regarding the MT/Flight A teams...my point is and I have said it before, It has been pretty easy for them to obtain a winning record and get into playoffs based on weaker schedules. What goes hand in hand with that is they also get higher seeds and often reach the 2nd round with having a bye and in many cases they get to the title game but are not the 2nd best team in the state....perfect example is last year-WP and SM clearly the best 2 teams yet they had to play in round 2.

Mob- I probably used poor choice in the Cavs are on the decline so I will take that back, but ealier this season I did say they will get in, but they are not in the same class as WP or SALS...IMHO. And I also said that of those 5 straight ship teams, the Cavs were only the best team 1 (maybe twice).

Jawnsky......how was St. Marks clearly better than MT when they got blown out by WP during regular season and the semi's? In fact, I believe the scores were about the same for the semi's w/ SM and finals w/MT. Last year WP was clearly the best team in the state, MT was a distance 2nd and SM and ST were pretty even at 3rd and 4th.

Jawnsky, I do agree the current state of MT is probably not up with WP & Sals, especially offensively their new transformation of the veer isn't looking very good & MT's O-Line is probably the worst that of seen in a very long time, they have no real depth, guys undersized & playing out of position combined with the fact that the veer is based on the option and MT's QB doesn't have the ability to run it effectively, he doesn't read the coverages at all, it also hurts when their leading RB is out possibly for the season. Defensively they are as good as Sals & Penn, if not better! Just wait and see again if #78 & #14 get back 100% combined with aggressiveness of #22 & #3 won't allow many points on board!

Just taking a quick look at the schedules....Sallies has the toughest schedule in Division 1. Arguably Dover could be up there as well considering their out of state opponents. I looked at top ten teams (per the consensus picks). Actually, i excluded Sussex Central because i don't think any team is worthy of that #10 slot (Central, Appo, Newark, A.I....). So i went with top 9. But you can do top 10, top 2, top 5 and results still puts Sallies at the top.

Sallies will play 6 top 9 Division 1 teams. That doesn't count their OOS opponents who seem to be average (but would probably be in Delaware's Top 9?). They also have St Marks which most people wouldn't put in the top 10 if they were Div 1 this year.

Dover will play 4 top 9 teams. Plus they play Lake who might be ranked in top 9 if they were Div 1, plus they play Dunbar & Poly who would be in the top 9 if they played in Delaware.

Penn will play 4 top 9 teams plus St G (who probably would be ranked in the top 9 if they were Div 1).

Mtown will play 4 top 9 teams.

Smyrna will play 4 top 9 teams plus Howard.

Concord will play 4 plus Caravel

Tech will play 4.

Cape will play 3.

MTP will play 3 plus Howard

St. Mark's played tough in the regular season against Penn. Ended up being 24-0. Was only 7-0 at half. Semis were a different story.

Doesn't really matter anyway.
