#1 Concord (17-4) vs #8 Poly (20-1) 7PM at St. George's
#4 Sanford (17-4) vs #5 St. E's (17-4) 7PM at AI
#2 Mount (19-2) vs #10 Smyrna (17-5) 7PM at Newark
#3 Appo (18-3) vs #6 Sallies (11-10) 7PM at St. Mark's

Can someone explain to me why doubleheaders weren't considered? This makes no sense to me at all to have 4 games go on at the exact same time.

They only make half the money with a doubleheader unless you clear the gym and charge for a new ticket to get back in. Not enough time to do that with 6 and 8 pm starts and no place in the state (except the Bob) big enough to handle four sets of fans at once.

I wonder if Newark will allow seating on both sides of the floor and on the one baseline. Those seats aren't used during the regular season which cuts down on seating capacity drastically.

They charges $8 for 4 games at the Bob. Would bet people would pay $7 or $8 for 2 games at a single site. 2 games at St Marks and 2 games at Dover. Everyone is happy.

they wont have to worry bout it, majority of fan base will be at either AI or St. Marks

I too wish they had either had double headers or staggered the times. But I give them credit for splitting the Saturday and Sunday games and times. Given the quarter match ups, I wouldn't trade the 3 games I saw this past weekend to see 2 of these.

Having the game at St Marks is a huge advantage for Sallies. That is not an easy place to shoot with the space between the baskets and the walls. Sallies is used to playing there. Also think AI is too small for the St E - Sanford game.

Looks to me like the locations were chosen to balance travel between the two schools somewhat. That looks like the plan for St. G, AI and Newark as locations- Appo/Sallies is the only one that fits less well.

I will be at Poly's game didn't get to make it there yesterday. They must improved a lot. The team I saw at the conference championship was average at best

Doghead22, you know that you cannot judge a team off one game. Did you see them at all during the regular season? From the looks of the way things have panned out so far one could argue that the Henlopen North was the best overall division in the the state getting 5 out of 7 teams in the tournament, still having 2 alive in Polytech & Smyrna while Sussex Tech & Dover both had good shots to advance to the quarterfinals in the final seconds on the road & Polytech ran the table in that Henlopen North. So saying that a team that swept the Henlopen North & won the conference championship is average at best would not make much sense to me & if that is the case does that mean that would make the other Henlopen North teams sthat went 0-2 vs them well below average?

I seen them 4 times this year but I based my judgment on them not being able to play against physical teams come playoff time but I'm convinced now! I'm a dover fan its going to be hard to cheer for poly but I'll swallow my pride lol

Also I wasn't sold on their gaurd play I think they are a better team when they sit his son and brown down number 2 can shoot and number 4 is a all-round ball player

I saw Polytech 4 times and think they have best team. But they didn't show it in the Milford game. Based on that I thought Howard could beat them. I don't see them losing to Concord. Chappell is a nice player. He'll get his recognition next year.

8Yaz Do you think Newark will open up the stands on both sides of the gym for the game tonight or will they squeeze everyone into one side?

@ old timer - that game will not have to worry about seating, St marks and AI will have all the fans

There Were Presales For The Sanford St E Game Already Sold Out They Sold Them At The Schools This Morning From What I Heard

I can't answer that OT22. Since they redid their gym, I've never seen both sides opened (they also have seating behind the one backboard). However, I don't think I've ever been to a playoff game there since they redid the gym. Sorry I can't answer your question. I'm going to try and get in no matter.

Sean Greene at WDEL confirmed that in a tweet- that Sanford versus St. E. is indeed sold out.

Sanford - St. E's appears completely sold out. Sanford and St. E's each started with 250 tickets, sold them, apparently were given 250 more each, and sold those. I don't know how many AI's gym holds, but it appears 1,000 tickets were sold before noon. Both WDEL and the News-Journal report the game as sold out, and Brad Myers (TNJ) specifically said no tickets will be available at the door.

They could have put the Appo/Sallies and St E's/Sanford games at the Bob tonight and sold 3000 to 4000 tickets.

They had some tickets at Sanford at noon. I got tickets there. Sure they're out by now. Sold out at St E.

As I posted yesterday, AI is WAAAAY too small to host this game. They have no end seats.

On the other hand, I would think seats would available at the door for Sals game. St Marks is huge. They have seats even for games between Sals and St Marks. Can't imagine Appo bringing that many.

Agree the double header would have filled side seats at the Bob.

I think the DIAA underestimates the interest in these games.

This is a freaking joke. The people running this tournament can't figure a way to have these quarterfinal games held in venues where any patron who wants to attend, can get a ticket? It's ridiculous.

Sallies was given an allocation of 500 tickets that went on sale at 8am. I stopped by the school at 9:15 and they had already sold around 400.....mostly to students.

Agree that AI's gym is way too small. Why not play that game at Sallies? You could put 500 more people in there. St. Mark's is a big gym but at least half the seats are beyond the baselines! Really poor design. Why have the big opening in the stands on the one side? Waste of prime seating space.
