Here they are:

W.T. Chipman Girls
Prestige Academy Boys

The following school have boys and girls participating:
Seaford MS
Woodbridge MS
Fifer MS
Postlethwait MS
Providence Creek Academy
Gauger-Cobbs MS
Dover Central MS
Beacon MS
Mariner MS
Smyrna MS
Bayard MS

Prestige and Dover are both undefeated and may me top seeds for boys but injuries and grades usually have an impact
There is a lot of parody in the girls bracket.....Last year Beacon was heads above all

Dover/Central Middle should finish out undefeated easily but I'd like to see Smyrna in that top bracket w/ them as well since Smyrna has their top player back who had been out w/ a broken hand & is hands down the best middle school player downstate & can play the 1-5 at the middle school level at 6'2. Smyrna was also missing their 6'2 big man that game that they loss to Central 52-22. Hopefully report cards won't change any of that...that would make for an interesting bracket.

Actually Smyrna is the tentative fourth seed as of now and the coach is very competitive and wants to be in that bracket as well...at last look Dover...Prestige...Bayard were 1 2 3 all undefeated....still some games left...Thanks for you interest J12

Also, lets see if 'Dovers big man or one of their two 7th grade point guards play better under the Capital pressure and which of the four turn out to be better HS players... MVP trophy could be the hands down moment...

Looks like Prestige loss to Gauger-Cobb 45-37 today. So yes there is a lot of basketball left. Your right about the girls bracket it should be wide open this year no clear favorite..

Yes..,,Dover Boys now only undefeated team in Capital Classic...Gauger/Bayard Wednesday Thursday Dover vs. undefeated Selbyville at CMS 4pm first challenge??

:

I think I saw that Selbyville actually loss to Woodbridge last week, Woodbridge's only loss so far was a nailbiter to Smyrna. I was at that game & they actually led the entire game until about 1 minute left...they are a very scrappy athletic team. They don't play Dover during the regular season so if they can finish out w/ 1 loss then you will have your hands full deciding the 4-team bracket for the main draw.

The Capital Classic is a great event and has been for some years now. I will never ever forget the tears that came down when my daughter Mesha won the MVP.

"There's no crying in basketball" Lol

Thanks Capital Guy keep up the good work.

I was at the Selbyville at Dover game yesterday & Selbyville has a scrappy athletic team but they didn't stand a chance...Dover was up 30 at one time & it could have been worse. I think the final was like 56-30. The 7th grade guards that Dover has are tough.

Im sure this will change next week but to give you guys an idea of where we sit this week. And yes J12 they are tough!

Looks like there could be even more shakeup in the main bracket as Fifer beat Woodbridge last night 67-65 which makes for a big middle school game tonight w/ Fifer (5-1) @ Smyrna (7-1). I wasn't in attendance but I heard that Woodbridge had like a 20-point lead in the 4th quarter & put their bench in & Fifer stormed back to force OT & win the game...thats a tough way to go out.

don't count out the Beacon girls this year their young and scrappy , just beat 1 loss Selbyville this week, only losses are to their sister team mariner whos undefeated and milford which was a foul fest with 55 combined fouls called in the game

Dover boys had a major scare tonight from Postlethwait. 10 seconds left down by two, Postlethwait player drives the length of the court and gets fouled on a made layup with a chance to win the game with no time left. Ref called a tech for players celebration. Postlethwait player misses FT and Dover makes tech FT GAME OVER! Crazy ending.

Also we will see what Beacon girls have when Central MS girls visit next week, this game might be for a spot in the top bracket at the Classic.

Smyrna had a major scare as well yesterday pulling out a 2-point win over Fifer 59-57 in the closing seconds.

Beacon girls will be missing their top player vs Dover she had something already scheduled when this game was added to the schedule

Simmonj4618..both coaches are comfortable remaining in their current and respective brackets no matter the outcome of tomorrow's game. Thank you.
