Congrats to all players making the team , but the nonsense of people saying the team is made up of the best players in the state is ........... The team is made up of the best players who came to the tryouts. Again not banging any kid , more like the parents !!!!

I think the perspective of this tournament has changed over the years. Initially when it started it was only open to seniors and touted kind of like an all star team for the state of Delaware. Then of course it split to 2 teams from DE and now includes underclassmen and juniors. I guess if the intent of the tournament is to put kids in front of college scouts, it makes no sense at all to put any seniors on the team if they are already committed to play somewhere in college. If you want to put the strongest possible team on the field then it would make sense to have more seniors on the team. I guess the point of question is what are we trying to accomplish in the sport for the DE HS player? Are we trying to promote players and get them seen by college coaches outside the travel ball/ showcase circuit? Or are we trying to win the tournament. If the answer is to the first question, then I would expect that only those seniors who have not committed anywhere or paid a deposit to a college would be allowed to participate and the remainder be made up of juniors, soph, & fresh. If we are trying to win by stacking our rosters with seniors, then I think the priority is off. Personally, I think we have the Blue Gold all star game to celebrate for our top senior talent. I think we should be putting our unsigned seniors and returning players for the following season in the Carpenter Cup.

Schedules, conflicts, play priories, politics who knows why the roster is what is ... taking nothing away from quality of players on these teams (because I agree very talented players were selected) , more a testament to depth of talent

I'd like to 3 game series / scrimmage DE South with non-rostered players in the same player pool: (and I am sure I am missing players)

1) Joey Hass, Poly P
2) Cole Garey, Poly
3) Carter Chasanov, Poly

5) Trevor Collins, Central IF, P
6) Tristan Guild, St. Georges P
7) Nolan Henderson, Smyrna P
8) Bryce Greenly, Milford OF, P
9) Austin Elliott, Cape OF, P
10) Zack Gelof Cape SS, P
11) David Erickson Cape 3b, P
12) Zach Dale Cape OF
13) Perez Nichols, Laurel OF
14) Brandon Roher, Appo, OF
15) Javon Fields, Appo, OF
16) Jimmy Adkins, Delmar IF, P
16) David Keane, Middletown IF P
17) Cole Dunn , Middletown, P

19) Michael Serafin, Newark, C

You have 37 kids from New Castle County between two teams. If I were from the Henlopen Conference, I would be screaming foul. On top of that, the North team is destroyed by losing those 12 kids to the South team. A failure no matter how you look at it. This was the opportunity for the southern teams to back up "best conference" claim.
If you look at Wrestling, they go against the South Jersey team each year. Its not for recruiting purposes, its to win. Carpenter Cup should be the same thing. Best kids, to win...
Oh, and give the North back their players. Its not the Blue/Gold game, great point DE Sussex.

Softball,which has won a few cups,only allows underclassman(woman)

Baseball is a joke cause coaches take their own kids over others, years of this has made this not a priority

Kids realize that and don't make time for it
