Today Cape Henlopen makes the journey up to DMA to play Salesianum in yet another state championship game. What do we think the result will be?

Unfortunately, the tournament has proven to be uneventful yet again. The seeding was pretty miraculous for Cape, with all the schools they lost to landing on the opposite side of the bracket with Sals. The last time Cape was eliminated in the state tournament by a team not named Salesianum was in 2016 (wow).

Anyway, I'm thinking hot start for Sals, Cape may keep up in the first but the floodgates will open early. 15-5 Sals.

Whatever point system is used is a sham. It completely excludes H2H wins, like AA over Cape. If the state committee for lacrosse just wants sallies and cape in the finals, just say so. For those that disagree, don't try to explain how the point system is fair because you haven't seen AA play. No way they should have been on the same side as sallies.

Stole the words right out of my mouth Seerock. Give us the chance and we would've shocked the world. Not like we lost to Sals by similar margins as Cape (we definitely didn't).

But only god (and myself) knows Drew Duncan would have willed his team to that trophy.

Because Archmere playing Sals in the final would've been different...

It should have been AA getting the chance to lose 16-8. They had already proven on the the field they were better than cape. The only seeds the dingbats on the committee got right were 1 and 4. 2,3 and 5 were the work of incompetents or guys who didn't have the guts to make the right call. If you're going to defend the point system at the expense of AA, don't do it here. If the committee members aren't willing to do the hard work of checking H2H and common opponents and hashing it from there then they are not working in the best interest of all the players/teams.

Agree AA should have been the #2 seed all day every day !!!!

Maybe if Archmere wanted a better schedule, they’d move to a more competitive conference … like Independent that more aligns with their school make-up.

Why are they even in DSAC???

Archmere’s out of conference schedule was tough enough to give them the 2nd ranked SOS in the state.

Thank you for pointing it out. Conference, schmomference, it doesn't factor in when AA beat both Cape and CR on the field. H2H and common opponents has to be a bigger deciding factor than just points for winning or losing. The committee may have to do a little heavy lifting to get it right but that's what needs to happen. Maybe I need to type more slowly so that some can see how stupid the point system is. Other than the Cape crusaders, no one thinks the point system worked at all.

It’s almost as if a team who has beaten Archmere for the past 6 years and won a state championship in that time (only one other than Sals) gets the benefit of the doubt in the playoffs, especially when there is a chance of playing the team they lost to again (look at how many regular season matchups have ended differently in the postseason).

However I can see how an up and coming program like Archmere, who is searching for their first state championship game berth, might be upset about things like seeding, instead of actually having to beat the best team in the semis.

Didn't they say that Sanford was an up and coming program from a few years ago? Cape had a much better SOS than Archmere. Delaware H.S. lacrosse has improved in the past few seasons but still has a long way to go. Maybe more youth leagues, better coaching etc.

Cape had a better sos but that doesn’t negate the fact that AA beat them h2h
