See I get Smyrna.. That is what they do and have done it all season... I do not believe they have attempted a PAT all season.. I think.. if not 99% they go for 2..

Sallies.. I saw they missed the first PAT.. After that they kept going for 2 and chasing points... I was really surprised they were doing that so early in the game in the first and second quarter...

Football 101 is to never chase the points until you have to.. usually fourth quarter..

Does Sallies normally go for 2 that often? I was really surprised to see them do that so early and often.. Have to admit from my perspective it was a head scratcher...

Believe me I am not bashing the coach but I was surprised..

Coach Joe we have disagreed a lot but couldn't agree more. Chasing points is not a good idea.

I am not familiar with them.. I did not know if it was because they do not trust him.. Or what..
Smyrna I get... That is what they do..

Technically going for 2 didnt hurt them. Here is how Sals tds went:
1) missed kick
2) failed 2pt
3) successful 2pt
4) bad snap on kick

So even if they kick the 2nd and 3rd they still end up with 2 extra points (IF they make both...and thats a big IF considering they were 0-2 on their two kick attempts).

Overall great game by both, Sals just came up a yard short.

Perhaps it was the college goal posts being narrow. They seldom chase points. Symrna however and that grouped up play they run will get 2 nine times out of ten normally. SALS worked hard to stop that yet symrna will run it on 4th and short and it is just about automatic.

Yeah
Very good package

I am consulting coach Judy this off season about it.. Single wing stuff.. Like it.

There was also a high snap on the first missed PAT. I think the holder who was in for the injured Cannon was able to get it in place anyway but that may've been a factor in the decision to go for 2 afterwards.

Its essentially the singlewing "beast" formation only Smyrna splits the up backs where in the beast they are both on one side or the other.. odd to me.. I personally think it would be more effective with both backs on one side ..The whole idea is to overload the POA.. If you want the D to have to defend both sides you run counter traps out of it..JMHO A bunch of Maryland team use the formation for short yardage very effectively

Blue Tea has cred on this one. In the whole scheme of things the JV QB throw 3 TD passes in a state title game.
That is interesting.
At least Bummy won't have far to drive to next year's Sals-Smyrna game(s).
