Coaching Changes????

Not trying to take away from the four teams that deserve the spot light this weekend, but any rumors as to who's leaving and who's being looked at, at certain jobs?

Jon Buzby just reported that Newark Head Coach Barry Zehnder has resigned from his position at Newark and accepted a teaching position at Middletown High a school where he will resume on the coaching staff at Middletown.

So both Delaware online and Wdel reported on Zehnder leaving Newark for Middletown. So that's opening #1 - bet that Jody Russell (Newark OC and previously Tatnall HC) takes over.

Almost assuredly, Christiana will be looking for a coach. I can't imagine the Christina School District will allow that behavior to be tolerated. DIAA Sportsmanship committee meets sometime in December and I imagine this will be discussed.

I also suspect that Dickinson will be looking for a new HC. Current guy got tossed several times and I think so did one or more of his assistants. Going 0-10 does not help. I know that he was trying to resurrect a program on life support already.

Not a HC issue, but I am curious what happens to Marks at Smyrna. Rumor Central (aka Helen's Sausage house) is that he was suspended for the balance of the season by the School District after his tirade on Delaware online. DIAA may still offer up punishment.

Obviously Woodbridge is looking to replace Manlove

So in my book at least 3 new HC's for next season. Certainly not the number we saw for this season.

If the Dickinson HC is in house they should keep him. I’d imagine no one else in that building wants that job and the only way to build is to have someone inside the school.

Marks on probation for next year is the word on the street. So I doubt any district will hire him taking that chance. He had 1 job that night and look how he took his power. All to his head and not using his head.

Woodbridge already has their guy.. Promoting Jed Bell.. Jed already has been handling the scheduling for next year. Why do you think CA is on the schedule? Manlove threw a fit and swore to never schedule CA again after CA put a running clock on them in 2012 and he held to it. . Jeb signed up to play no problem.. LOL

I'm sorry but I find this a bit hard to believe. If those allegations were brought up about any teacher, I would think no school would even consider bringing him in. Why would Smyrna even bring him in? You run the risk of some serious backlash doing so. And with that said I think they would have did their own investigation on the matter and found out it was nothing more than false rumors.

Granted, if you are right, I would think he wouldn't be back as a a teacher, let alone a coach.

I wouldn't count on the Middletown tradition dying yet because they're still placing kids at solid college programs, including 1 who's a starting wide receiver in the NFL right now. Appo's made exactly two playoff appearances in the decade plus the school has been open, and I'm sure Odessa will draw some kids as well, so it's still a tough hill to climb.

He used “inside source” which proclaims it as truth but as we know media gets away with this all the time and can’t be forced to name their sources but he can be challenged if it can be proven to be false and he knew it. Such a grey area . Probably not something I would put out there without concrete proof but legally probably ok

As for twerking elementary girls as a method to teach core movement and strength as it pertains to fielding ground balls. If that happened I can see how he may have thought that and am sure it was nothing sexual. Just bad judgement considering today’s climate on these type things. Marks is a good guy and very passionate in his coaching Seems he just gets carried away at times and doesn’t think things through. I have no reservations in saying whatever he does is with the best intentions of the kids he is training or coaching like I said he may just have to think things over more and tone down the passion some.

Middletown will be relevant for quite a little longer. At least until the new Odessa high school had a few years in varsity.

Shit, I still know of kids transferring OUT of Appo to Middletown, as well as some other kids from other schools......for academic reasons of course. Until that stops Middletown will still be one of the top programs this state offers.

Besides Cj Henry, this new QB Middletown will have will be one of the better ones. As long as the running back can stay out of trouble he alone will be hard to stop. The two receivers, Walker and Griffin showed a lot of promise. All but one lineman returns. The offense won't have problem putting the points up.

What needs to be worked on, in my eyes anyway, is the defense. They have to get better at stopping the run. The last two games Hodgson and Sallies ran up and down the field like they owned it.

Overall I still think Middletown is in the playoffs, behind Hodgson and Sallies and Dover
