St Thomas More has 8 kids on their team, 6 of them 9th and 10th grade. Ya knew when the Coach/Asst. Principal left with his AAU team going also, it was going to be tough.
That said, really Concord? There goes the Sportsmanship Award again….

Sportsmanship award...before you comment, were you at the game? Concord played zone starting halfway through the 1st quarter. Held the ball for long stretches at a time. Played FR and SO the entire 2nd half. I know personally that the Concord coach asked for the game to be called at a certain point. They would not allow it.

First hand. They were quadrupling the ball late in the 1st quarter. Anyone who is going to defend this shouldn't be involved in interscholastic sports. To stand at mid court with the ball on you hip, laughing, is far from right. The kid who scored the last bucket of the 1st qtr was a starter. Starters played in every quarter. The coach knew they had 6 players and treated it was like it was an AAU game. 82 point win? Your an idiot.

The whole damn thing is a disgrace.

I heard the official bosxcore lists the teams as Conquered & St .Thomas Less. Any truth to that?

Concord had to keep a starter on the court they only had 9 players. Know what your talking about! Never quadrupled anyone, the 1st quarter they doubled the PG & tried to get the ball out of the best players hands.

Not sure what anyone expected Concord to do, short of laying down on the floor and letting STMA run the floor uncontested. Some days you're the bug, other days you're the windshield. That's sports.

...no chance that I have the skills of pat...possibly, he would let me warm up his audience with that accordion classic "Lady of Spain..." ....That is one that always cranks up the crowd..

that would definitely get the crowd warm and fuzzy for pat lmao

Tennessee 11 - Temple 6.

Stall ball. Temple-Tennessee back in '73? I remember listening to this game on the radio. The announcers just had a conversation most of the game. I think it was in Coach Don Casey's first year after he took over from the venerable Harry Litwack. Coach John Chaney took over in the '80's..thank God.

"Temple did not give the Vols a single shot from the field in the second half..."

If any of you who side with this must have never coached. There are many things you can do to control the scoring. If the one player had scared you that much that only an 80 point victory was comfortable, then you really do need to look at yourself. Here are a few things you can do. 1. Stop pressing. 2. Stop contesting every inbounds play. 3. Stop jumping passing lanes. If you are that afraid of them scoring a basket, keep 1,2 and ,3 up. Now once you have taken the ball from them there are a few things you can do to keep the score down and help your team learn, help the other team learn, and maybe not look like assholes to the entire basketball world, with the exception of a few on here. 1. Run an offense. Don’t release players for the full count leak pass. Allow the other team to get back and set a defense and then again go back to #1, run an offense. Have the awareness that those poor kids can’t even practice. Help them. That’s where the Sportsmanship piece comes in. 2. Great opportunity to practice another defense besides the two you run. If the other team gets a shot, it presents a great opportunity to practice rebounding and transition offense, beside the bomb. Here’s a novel idea, play a passive press and help those poor kids work on breaking it??

All of these thoughts are what High School coaches are expected to do. To humiliate and embarrass are no where in the Brandywine School Districts “Coaches Expectations”.
Merry Christmas to all and a special one to St Thomas More.
