I am thinking a team like Smyrna with all the timing and tempo wouldn't mind not having a bye.. better to play and keep things rolling.. in my opinion.. personally I hate bye weeks

rr2..I agree about Smyrna not minding a bye. Unless a team has key personnel on the mend there is no advantage gained by sitting out a week. These boys are in GO mode so let them stay there until end of season. On a separate note, it's amazing how little respect defending champs WP get. I hope it is based on high opinions for Smyrna and not on too low opinions for WP.

I agree youjustme WP doesnt get any of the respect they deserve even before the Sallies game . They win 19 in a row and were ranked #1 this season for 7 straight weeks and no ink , no write ups all you hear about is this school or that school and I think we all know who im talking about. Its sad a program that has been turned around big time in just 3 years and no respect or credit when its due. That's ok I think that just motivates and gives Penn more drive to win. Alot of hype with Smyrna but sorry to say I think the Buck Stops at Basin Rd. At Cole Field. Penn will be chomping at the bit for that game dont be surprised if Penn dont put up a 50 burger on Smyrna .

DR, if WP puts a 50 burger on Smyrna it will be while digesting a 70 burger with fries. The Smyrna D is much improved. I don't think Sallies puts those numbers on Smyrna again, let alone WP. I have respect for WP but I'm not going overboard.

RR - i 100% agree. I hate the byes...especially for high school. I would much rather see adding two teams to the D1 playoffs to make it 8 teams, no byes. I don't think the bye helps a team overall. I would think that Smyrna would rather play and probably even Wm Penn because Penn finished the season with two games that didn't challenge them at all and Smyrna probably 6 straight games that didn't challenge them much. Plus it gives 2 other teams that had a good season a chance to enjoy the playoff atmosphere and gives them a shot. This year, like most years, there won't be hardly any difference between the 5,6,7 or 8 ranked teams. But two won't get in and thats a shame.

Youjustme - I think that people on this forum and maybe even fans around the state are overlooking Penn...but i'm sure that none of the coaches that will have to face them will be overlooking Penn. The coaches of even Sallies and Smyrna will know that if Penn plays its best game, Penn can certainly beat them. The Sallies/Penn game proved that Wm Penn can be beat. It didn't prove that Wm Penn wasn't any good. Just like the Sallies/Smyrna game proved to me that Sallies and Smyrna are good, but both can be beat as well. In my eyes, its a dead heat between Smyrna, Sallies and Penn. Even though i think Sallies is the favorite, I wouldn't be surprised at all if any of the three beats the other. You could probably throw Mtown in there as well. Mtown will be a challenge to any of those three, but i would probably be a LITTLE surprised if Mtown won the games against them.
