I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way but i have to ask this question........................How do you have Smyrna at #3 when they have not beat a quality opponent? The last Playoff team they played was STech and they got blown out. They also got routed by Dover and Cape at the end of last season. Then this season they open up against Delcastle and Appo and beat them easily (which any top ten team would) and they are now #3 (ahead of MT?) in the state according to your polls? I would think before they are awarded #3 they would have beaten a top #6 either the past couple weeks or at very least last season..................... JS.

They've had JV players in by the 2nd quarter...

And if it's so easy to beat people 64-0, everybody would do it...

Not sure I would of placed Smyrna @ #3 quite yet, haven't played anybody to deserve that leap in rankings, my top 6 would go as follows / WP#1, Sals #2, MT #3, Concord #4, Smyrna # 5, Sussex Tech #6 JMO! Smyrna is a program on the move no doubt lets see after this week , I for one am not ready to have them in the top 3!! They beat Sals maybe legit #3 behind #2 MT and #1 WP next week if both of those teams win? WP/A.I should win & MT/Wilm Chart. blowout

Sussex Tech's opponents 0-4
Concord's opponents 0-4
Sallies opponents 0-5
Smyrna's opponents 1-3

They played... AI, IR, Caravel, CR, Cardinal & Appo who are all pretty equal... and Delcastle lower... So I don't think the Opponents are that much different...

I'm not here to debate but tech,concord and sallies have beaten quality opponents within the past 2 seasons. Can we say the same about Smyrna? All I'm saying is let's not tip the hat until they prove they can.

I admit that I have gotten caught up in the Smyrna hype, but I think most fans of high school football just like to see a new kid on the block every once in a while. I had Smyrna at #4 in my poll which may be a tad bit high, but after seeing them scrimmage WP, I was impressed. Next game will let us know if they are for real or not... The 1 point win over A.I. really hurt Sussex Tech in the polls imho. In the end it's all for fun and to give us something to talk about during the week.

I don't think you can compare this Smyrna team to years past.. Different Coaching, Different Players, Different Systems, Different mindset and approach... I am not saying they will beat Sals this week.. but they have the best chance they ever have in along time.. IMO

Much agreed! I'm glad there seems to be another team competing for the chance for ship! I think that this coaching staff has the program going in the right direction and will be a formidable opponent for many years to come! But If we look at the 2 opponents they beat so far, Appo lost to the following last season MT 42-0, Concord 44-7, WP 55-0, & Delcastle lost last year MT 44-7, Concord 48-0, Sals 42-0, WP 55-0. I know this is a different year, but the results speak for themselves these programs aren't strong enough to gauge how they will fair against teams at the top of D1, lets not give them to much to soon! How they played against WP in a scrimmage with 9 of WP starters out really is not true barometer!! This week will show much of us if they are the real deal or a program that has had some credit premature!

They Played Wp JV team so I would hope they looked impressive. I have no ideal why Wp did not play many guys. Why even have a scrimmage game if you are not going to play your guys. But doing good in that game against the team they played that night would not sell me on Smyrna.
