Delmar
This is what changed the game. Was 4th down. Runner’s knee clearly down. Instead it was a TD that broke Delmar’s back.

Never said this is the reason Delmar lost. But if you were at the game you could see the effect it had. Delmar had just drove deep in Howard territory down 6. Stopped on 4th and 1. Howard picks up a couple 1st downs then looks to be stopped on 4th down. Instead this play happened. You could see the air deflate out of Delmar. Delmar goes 3 and out. Another 4th down for Howard and they run a WR pass for a TD.

Once again, not saying Delmar wins if the play is called correctly. Delmar had a chance to tie the game on their 1st possession. Instead they fumble on Howard’s 15 and Howard returns it for a TD. An 8-8 or 8-7 game turned into a 16-0 Howard lead after 2 possessions. Delmar didn’t play anything close to their best. But if that play is called correctly you’re at least looking at a much closer score.

It's always impossible to predict what would have happened if something in the past changed, but at that point in the game the score was 22 Delmar - 28 Howard.

If the play would have been blown dead like it should have been, Delmar might have been fired up enough to score on the next drive and go ahead instead of falling behind two scores. That definitely would have changed the character of the game.

Howard took control 2nd half.. His knee was down.. Delmar did nothing second half.. Howard was better .. Nothing really talk about..

Yes Howard won the game, but their "control" started with a blown call by the Refs. Pretending that the game would have played out the same way if that call had been made correctly is disingenuous.

Would Howard still have won if the call had been made correctly? More likely than not, but it's not the slam dunk you're implying it is.

That is one way to look at it another way is bad calls and big plays happen. Champions overcome those situations. I didn't see the game but from the sounds of things Delmar rolled over and gave up after the play hence Howard took the game over..

Yes, bad calls happen. I'm not saying they don't. I'm pointing out that saying Howard is that much better than Delmar ignores the fact that Howard had breaks that went their way to make the score what it was. That's football. Sometimes the breaks go your way, sometimes they don't. If Howard and Delmar played again and the breaks went Delmar's way, they could easily beat Howard.

Even after that bad call, Delmar almost stopped Howard again but Howard pulled off a trick play on 4th down to score and go ahead 44-22 with 11 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Good job on Howard's part, but the game was a lot closer than the final score showed.

Folks we lost to Howard because we made mistakes. Never ever put yourself in a position to blame a ref for losing a game. How many of you would believe we would be in the semifinals after the Parkside game.

Not blaming the Refs. Delmar made too many mistakes to win unfortunately. But the breaks that went Howard's way made the final score look like the game was not as close as it was.
