D1 TITLE GAME UPDATES

42-yard pass this time. Apparently focusing on Reeder has opened up things through the air. 3:51 to go in 2q.

Sallies QB playing very well.. Does not look like a JV kid.. I bet 90% of the teams would love to have a kid that looks like that as a sophomore.
Both defenses doing a good job of stopping the run.

Wow . I just drove past the stadium and was too busy today to make game . Sounds like I'm missing one for the books .

Wow

Had to take my son to bball practice

Was watching online.. Keep the updates coming.

Wow. Who would of thought Smyrna Defense would be the game changer in this one. Congrats to them, sounded like a hell of a championship game. Can't even remember the last OT state championship game

I wanna say one of the Penn-Newark games in the 90s went to OT, but I could be wrong. Either way, great finish for Smyrna and a tremendous effort by Sallies, who should be considered the D1 fave going into 2016.

Great H.S game by both teams. A shame only one winner. Second time Sals were on the losing end of a State Title in OT. Hearty congratulations to Smyrna. Hail to the Champions.

Smyrna really played well in the second half and deserved to win the game. At least I saw ravensrooster2 and got to call him Ass Clown.

Let's not start with the favorite crap for next year. Allow Smyrna to enjoy their victory............heck their probably not even off the field yet.

Sals looked confused all day. Missed substitutions, awful special teams and costly missed coverages. Smyrna played very well and wanted it more. Congratulations to the D1 champs.

Unless I'm mistaken, Sallies starting QB was also their holder on PAT's. We had a couple of misses today that made a big difference, however, sometimes the other team just plays better than you. Congrats to Smyrna and their storybook season, they were the better team today.

Outstanding state title game! Very intense, lots of big moments. Two top quality teams going at it like heavyweights! Too bad someone has to lose. Kind of a shame that the officiating was poor at best. Many questionable calls (both ways), but the teams kept their heads and played well. Congratulations to Smyrna and hats off to Sals and to the huge crowd!

First of all, I thought it was a great game to watch. One of the best I have ever seen in Drlaware High School. Sallies qb did a great job for being a sophomore back up. Smyrna's coach was clearly the best coach on the field. I was shocked Sales didn't run more up between the tackles. The numbers dictated it they didn't do it. Smyrna was very dirty in the way they were going after knees, when they were on defense. The refs were very visible in times they shouldn't have been on both sides. Smyrna's big plays were the difference. They deserved it. Shocked the Sales didn't change the snap count at the end. Didn't give the line or Reeder a chance. Smyrna is going to be a force for at least the next few years. Great attendance today. Fans were great on both sides.

I saw the coaching a little different. I was lamenting some of the Smyrna coaching decisions. The coaches know the kids and opponent a lot better than I do so I trust that they did what they thought was best. After scoring a touchdown with the wildcat, I was surprised to see the big package go off the field on THE critical two point conversion. Last week, Knight had a lot success going off the edge (sometimes with pulling lineman) in those situations. They did go to it after a penalty, which resulted in another penalty that took them too far out. During the game, I wondered why we kept pounding Knight up the middle when they were stopping it, and we had Henderson and his corps of receivers. I thought Sallies did a good job preparing for both Knight and Richie. I did like the halfback pass play. Sallies did a good job using Reeder as a decoy and then going somewhere else. I thought Smyrna might have done a little more of that with Knight. Overall, I thought the play calling for Smyrna was quite conservative. But all's well that ends well as they say. Lastly, I have mentioned several times that Smyrna's biggest opponent was themselves with the penalties. Well, job well done today. In my mind that kept them close with a chance to win. Good job to the boys and coaches for cleaning that up.

Sals were lost today......but that is because of what the Eagles did to them. I have now seen the game 3 x and gotta say- hats off to Smyrna. Mike Judy and his staff did a great job of studying film and better yet....getting his players to buy into a strategy to take Sals (and their Coaches) off their game.

congrats to Smyrna and Howard

The #1 key to the game was keeping Reeder in check and they did that,,but for that matter Sallies had a great defensive game plan for Smyrna as well.. This game came down to desire and heart.. Not that Sals didn't have it as they very much did but Smyrna just had more.. I know it sounds cliche' but I believe it..

RR- that is exactly what I am referring to. Smyrna just took it to (and from) the Sals.....I know that may sound like something ballmustard might say but most know what I'm referring to. Judy was dead on.....stop #28 and WIN....that they did!

And I am confident they knew they would give up a few pass td's based on their D scheme but the tradeoff and adjustments got it done. Amazes me how many folks do not realize just how important the little things matter.
