D2 Championship is it worth watching?

I've been a fan of the game for a long time now. I've seen good teams and bad teams. I'm just trying to figure out if going to this championship game is worth it. I've been to four of Hodgson games this season and they are the real deal. I've seen Laurel play twice. They absolutely have no shot. They have a generic offense and they feed number 4 the ball and try to pass the ball to number 10. That's it, if they get stopped you know a pass play is coming, very predictable. Hodgson is too big up front and way too fast. My downstate friends said Laurel's coach said they "can play with anyone in the state" haha lets see if they can play with the best.
My prediction: Hodgson 34
Laurel 7

I believe that Laurel is riding a wave of heart and determination with a sprinkle of luck! Don't be surprised if the game is a lot closer! The community is 100% behind them and they are ready to fight!! Dont Sleep!

Wow what a first post!!! Let me remind you that Hodgson is a 7 seed and Laurel is a 4 seed. As a Hodgson parent even I find your post offensive, imagine what the Laurel family must think... Yes I truly believe Hodgson is a good team and can win this game, but Laurel has some very talented players - #4 is a heck of a RB and #10 is a special athlete. And that's just after seeing them once. Let me remind you that Laurel beat Caravel who smoked Hodgson earlier this season. So while you may think Hodgson wins easily, the game has to be played and I'm sure Laurel is gonna bring their A game! Try to remember that these are just 16 - 18 year old kids and they read this board. A little respect for Hodgson's and Laurel's accomplishments would be appreciated.

Well said Nuk....all of the kids in the 2 Championship games deserve the benefit of the doubt imho. Lots of time, hard work and sacrifice to accomplish a trip to the finals! Hopefully there is a great turnout this year for both games!

Worth watching ??? If you are a fan of hs football in de both games are worth watching. Last years d2 final was supposed to be two evenly matched teams and a lot of people were surprised by the outcome..absolutely no shot ???They will be at the stadium on Saturday afternoon so they have a shot.

@ nuk59

I just gained a massive amount of respect for you. That post definitely showed your character and class. Hodgson is a great team, very impressive. Both of these teams deserve respect for their accomplishments.

I'll be there rooting with Nuk for HVT Obviousley HVT has the bigger more talented team overall but I believe there is some fight in those Dogs... I'm hoping to see a good hard fought well contested game..regardless what I think will happen...

Some great insight fellas, now we're talking football. I know of at least two instances when I was working either a playoff game or a championship game, that a team who had put a running clock on someone during the regular season ended up losing the game. Proving that the games are not played on paper. And what's the worst case scenario in the event of a blowout, you just get to your wings and your beverage a little sooner

Regardless of who was in it, we would all go anyway. It's a championship game.

Sorry VERT, I don't mean too, but I'm going to derail this football talk for a bit.... What's the rule on the tailgating? Last year it was a big no no, but yet I still succeeded in throwing one without being told to stop from any official.

Are we allowed to tailgate this year?

I tend to agree Smack. But I would have never thought Laurel would have gotten this far. If that fortunate wave continues to roll...ya never know.
Hopefully for the entire town of Laurel it is a good game, win or lose. After all they have so many pulling for them?? I guess Hodgson doesnt have a fan base?? I understand it is few and far between for Laurel to have this kind of FB success. But like an old coach told me years ago..."aat least act like you've been here". And hopefully it is a well played good game, because if it is a blow out one way or the other the vultures from NC and Sussex county's will be swarming on here.

Any given day. I sure hope HVT isnt taking this laurel team lightly like a lot of you are... Close game early, but i believe hvt runs away with it in 2nd half.

HVT 40 Laurel 14

Speaking with some people that used to build their social calendar around a UD game day experience, it sounds like they don't want any tailgating all together. While this is clearly a topic for another thread, the UD turd is rapidly circling the toilet.

@Ikey

I've heard the same story from a few friends. One even gave up his tickets because he got so fed up. Last part of your post is epic and I will have to quote it in the future!!!

Thanks Lazer!

But knowing me, I'm probably going to risk it Anyway." It's never a problem until you get caught".....moral of said quote,, don't get caught.

If all else fails, there's a TGI Fridays right across the street.
