Delmar vs. Caravel - Two good teams that would have made for a great game
Tower Hill vs. AI/St. Marks/DMA - To see if Tower Hill's easy schedule kept a better team out of the playoffs or if they were actually one of the top 8
Friends vs. Caravel - Who actually was the better team?

On any given day, any of the top eight could have beaten anyone else in the top eight (with the exception of Howard). Also, think that Archmere may be an exception and played a fairly weak schedule. Friends was a dropped INT away from beating WB. Caravel lost on a failed two point conversion. IMHO- Coin toss between Friends and Caravel. TH loses to St. Marks. Beats AI and DMA. Howard wins easily on Saturday night.

Howard wins easily on Saturday night.

If Woodbridge plays mistake free and gets the breaks (like getting a TD on a play they were actually stopped on), Woodbridge might be able to beat Howard. I agree Howard is the favorite, but it's not a foregone conclusion they will actually win.

So my question, just out of curiosity - if Delmar had gotten that break, would there be as much debate about it?

I can't imagine people discussing a correct call.

But imagine this scenario, that bad call goes Delmar's way instead of Howard's. That changes the score by 14 points. Now imagine that Delmar made no mistakes, like Howard stripping the ball from the QB and running it for a TD. That makes the score even. Strike out Delmar's other less serious mistakes and it's entirely possible Delmar could have won.

Now of course those things didn't happen and Howard won. Even if the blown call would have been made correctly, Howard would still have most likely won because Delmar made too many mistakes, but there is no way of knowing for sure.

Delmar and Woodbridge are about equally as good when playing their best, so if Woodbridge doesn't make any mistakes and has a bad call go their way, they can beat Howard. I don't think that is a controversial statement.

Ok. Just find it interesting that one blown call had that much impact on a game that ended 50-29, but hey.

Take away the 8 points Howard got from the blown call and the score is 42-29. Still a win, but are you as impressed as much by it as you are with a 50-29 win? As I've said before, the game was a lot closer than the final score indicated.

Honestly I watched the Delmar Howard game on hudl today and that call was huge!!!! It was at a crucial time and Delmar had momentum! I believe the score was 28-22 at the time... hats off to Howard taking advantage and advancing but that game was a lot closer than the score showed!

As I have been saying, if Woodbridge doesn't make mistakes and doesn't have any bad calls go against them, they can beat Howard.

It's also good to get independent confirmation of what seemed obvious during the game, but that could have been clouded by team loyalty. Thanks for the confirmation Chill44.

Not sure why but every year Howard always gets overrated on here. Every year particularly pre-season.. Not sure if it is faith in Ritter or people just assume they will be stocked with athletes or what..sure they make the play-offs but normally are 1 and done.. This decade they are 5-6 in the play-offs but all 5 of those W's are the 2 this year and the 3 in 2015 when they won it.. The other 6 times they made the play-offs they were 0-6..

I have them as the favorite but in no way do I think it is a slam dunk.. actually not sure what the hype is..I get they played HVT within 2 TD's but even HVT can have a bad day.. They play again and I am certain HVT would RC them.. They are a good D2 team but not one of the best this past decade.. not even close..

They have great chance to win a state title... Don't get me wrong.. Bridge has a good team... But I like Howard by 8 or better..lol
