Mostly the ones testing for CA are the former Red Lion middle school kids.. There are only of couple of them .. From what I hear the ECA kids are spreading all over.. some back to their district some to St E etc...not sure about the tech schools as I believe only 8th and 9th graders who live in NCC can apply

I would think if any of the ECA kids are going private, Caravel, St.E's,, etc., these schools would be providing financial aid or some sort of athletic scholarship. From my understanding ECA's issue is their ability to sustain themselves financially, because they either charge minimal tuition or no tuition at all.

Not necessarily true for many of them..Thats a big misconception that all the kids at ECA are all at risk or poor. Many can afford Ste E, CA, or even Sallies with the normal qualified financial aide offered. I suspect the ones leaving and applying for privates can pay and academically qualify.. I know for sure the couple that applied to CA do and can.. the biggest question for the ECA transfers is eligibility as it applies to DE rules because of the re-classing at ECA..

It will be a bit of a mess to figure out for DIAA as I am not sure how the transcripts will read out as to when they started HS officially.. at least in DE its a pretty straight forward you have 4 years to play once starting HS whether you play or not.. MD rules are different.. We will have to see how it plays out and DIAA's take on it and if they will offer 5th year hardship waivers on some cases..

You can't go by the last ECA's posted roster in 2014 as the grad years are not the same as transcripts or what they were list as last year.. so who knows? That said I am not sure just how many kids are leaving ECA and which ones.. One of ECA's QB peeps posted on the Balto forum today that they were not going anywhere so who knows whats going on there..

Makes sense! Yeah...I didn't even consider the reclassifying stuff. I know in DE, once you hit high school, your 4 year clock is running regardless of if you play or not. Also talking to some state people at DIAA, if transcripts reflect 4 years of courses, that also is 4 years of eligibility used.

I also know that all of the students at ECA don't have financial hardships. I was just going off of what I heard from parents and people who work(ed) at the school who shared that their costs to attend has contributed to them breaking even or not being able to sustain themselves financially. My comment wasn't directed at the financial stability of the parents, it was more on the operations of the school and its need to make their tuition minimal.

I see Archmere got 3 votes...above some of the major playoff teams from last season. What do you fellas think about that one?

Easy to forget it, but Archmere was a good team last season that was playing its best football in the second half. There were some who argued that if the Auks had gotten into the playoffs they would be the best bet to upset St. Georges, even though that team turned out to be Howard. Factor in that while it's not where it once was, Archmere still has a solid program with a strong tradition and it's understandable that people voted for it.

I think woodbridge is going to be a huge power for D2 next year, for those of you who don't know if not for students going to Sussex Tech WB would have been running D2 for the past couples years.

Last year was Archmere's worst year record wise since 2010. I'm sure someone will spout off about opponents and such but, go between 7-3 and 9-4 for 5 seasons and I think Coach Ambrogi should deserve to a decent amount of respect. Not easy to go 12-0, not easy to win state championships...considering the Auks efforts in the "2010's" I'd say they have just a good a shot as anyone to play for a title.

Cheers,

Busch

I saw Glasgow a few times. Had a lot of talent, but coaching left a lot to be desired. Were usually outplayed in 2nd half of games.

I saw Glasgow a few times. They were not deep and had freshman and sophomores starting. It was not coaching but lack of depth causing a team to get worn down and lack of experience. Newark, Howard, Lake and even st.g lose alot. I think they rise due to who is lost and the talent they return.

I think st. G remains most talented just by the fact votechs are so popular. Losing the rb hurts though.

But based on talent it seems as though everyone is blind to Glasgow. Now they have not been winning the past couple years but talent still oozes from this high school.

What do people think about friends, tatnall and TH? Friends and TH both had good showings last year as they both played close contested games against the state champion Howard

Every team in Delaware has to deal with that, some more than others. However, I see WB being strong this year.
