Because I'm bored and going through pre-employment screening, I spent this weekend hashing out what I think will be the records for every high school football team in the state of Delaware. I'm sharing my D2 predictions first because that took the longest. Discussion's always welcomed as it is a message board and this is a totally unscientific poll. I just looked at the schedules, saw whom was returning whom and went for it.

Good shot at it! Although, I don't see St. Marks doing that well this year. I got them finishing at 3-7.

In no particular order, I have DMA, Howard, Glasgow, Delmar, and Tatnall at the top of my D2 list.

Gees you were bored. Just my side notes. AI will win flight b. Hen south picks look solid. Indy as well but i would go with Tatnall over Friends. FSMA is not going to win a game let alone 3

Ummmmmm, you have Glasgow losing to Caravel and you also have Caravel losing to Glasgow........smh

I don't see Glasgow having a good year at all.
They lost Wilson, credle and their RB if I'm not mistaken. They will take a severe step back this season.

I hope you are right about St. Mark's.

I think St. E will be better than 1-9.

Charter will be 2-8. No way they lose to FSMA or Red Lion.

I think Dover beats WB but who knows.

No way does AI win Flight B. Flight B might be down but AI just isn't all that good.

I'll buy if they win.

Gate, nice piece of analysis. St. Marks is playing the Slowkys at home this year. I think Sparty can beat them this year. Friends looks like the will control the Silk Panty League until Coach Tatt hangs it up.

My early instincts are to award the prestigious City Title to Howard......and to forego the periodic and well received City Rankings.....

Anyone know the latest on the Dover QB, doesn't seem like he was the one playing in their scrimmage. Would be ashamed if he was injured.

Gate....First off good for you trying to guess everyone's records. This year will definitely be interesting in my opinion. However, I believe the Henlopen South is definitely up for grabs.

Woodbridge loses A LOT of players from that state championship team. Essentially their entire O and D lines, plus a few skill players. Say all you want, but I think the loses of Vessel's and Style's will be huge for them. They still have the Kane kid and their QB returning, but I am not sure they can have the same kind of success.

Laurel, for some reason I am not as high on them as everyone else. I believe the new coach is doing a good job there, but Perez Nichols was their offense last year. Plus word on the street from the CR scrimmage is that CR (who is back to the wing-t) ran all over Laurel. Say what you want, but CR only beat Poly last year.

Delmar, again Adkins was been a multi year starter at QB, who knew that offense inside and out. It'll be interesting to see how that position develops throughout the year. Also, you have Delmar beating Milford, then Milford beating Delmar in your predictions.

Milford, losing both WR and QB will hurt their team for sure. They do return Bowman at RB and a few others I think. Also 3, D1 teams on the schedule will be a tough task. The bonus points from losses should help them though.

IR, has been on a down hill spiral as of late. Lake is still young and Seaford, will always be Seaford.

Not sure how it plays out, but I could see a shake up in the rankings. Woodbridge, Delmar, Laurel and Milford will all battle it out for the Henlopen crown....can't wait for the season to get started!

Come on Bum you've got to stop with this. The Spartans have ZERO chance of beating the "Slowskys" this season or really at anytime in the near future. Two completely different programs now. I just hope St. Mark's stays within 4 scores. Game is a mismatch. Only reason they will continue to play is because it's a rivalry.

I hate to see any team so bad but I agree that StE could have a long road ahead. 1-9 is being nice with that schedule. Tough teams to play with only 2 srs as someone stated. It's tough to say they could win 6. They haven't won 6 games since 2012 season and with so much youth I don't see it. Hope they can though, they use to be a very consistent team in DII.

Fan, maybe I am a little wobbly on that one but Gatekeeper has the Spartans at 9-1. How many fading programs go 9-1?
There is just something about that game right after the Smyrna game at Baynard....it may be a big emotional let down game.

Sallies will have a down year this season, at least by sallies standards. If I was a betting man I would say there is no way in hell sallies loses to St. marks, there is just too many numbers and factors on their side of the equation...

However.....if st. Marks can find some gems hidden in their team. There is no reason why it can't be speculated that an upset could occur. Sallies will win games, but it won't be by 3-4 touchdowns. So the Spartans just have to keep it close.

They will be coming off of the Smyrna game which they will be putting all their eggs into. They will be banged up, and i don't care what the coaches or players say, this is their circled game. Not st. Marks, it's not a rivalry anymore, that ship sailed. So they will be overlooking st. Marks.

BUT I just can't see it happening, unless st. Marks proves me wrong and goes 9-0 before that game, then my tone will be completely different.

I won't make record predictions because of the mantra of "Any Given Sunday"...but I will give my prediction on who makes the post season. And in no order

Flight B - Howard, A.i. Dupont
Hen. South - Woodbridge, Delmar
Diamond State - DMA
IND - Caravel, Friends, Tatnall

Nice Piece of Analysis.

You guys must know something about AI because everyone keeps mentioning them as a possible playoff team. I get that they dropped down but they haven't been very good lately. The schedule is favorable.

Sallies has a guaranteed 6 wins on the schedule. They will have their work cut out to get to 7 or 8.

I see St. Mark's as a 6-4 team.

Trust me when I tell you this. If you're counting on the Sals having some kind of letdown against St. Mark's because they played Smyrna the week before then you are delusional. I was a part of that game a few times and it doesn't matter what the records are or who played who the week before. Both teams treat that game as a Super Bowl. St. Mark's just doesn't have the talent or numbers to hang with the Sals anymore. Last year was 31-0 and the previous season was 41-0. It won't be much better this year.

AI will only have 3 maybe 4 tests. If they go 7-3 with 2 wins over D1 teams, they will make playoffs.

My thoughts:
9 wins: WB(deep roster), DMA, Glasgow.
8 wins: Friends, Milford, CA (sch significantly easier than '16), TH.
7 wins: Delmar, Howard, AI.
6 wins: StMarks, Laurel.

I am not buying Glasgow for that much especially if they don't have Estep and they have a new HC.. I know 7v7 is just that and doesn't count for much but they were a mess.. I also think Brandywine and McKeen will be improved some. They won't be play-off teams but should be able to win some flight B games and knock off a Glasgow or a Mt Pleasant. I am also thinking the only flight B team to make the play-offs will be the conference winner

I agree AI schedule should give them 5 wins vs Poly, Charter, Christiana, McKean and Dickson. If they can win 2 of the other 5 that should put them in playoffs.

RR because of a couple situations like this I still think there will be 2-3 teams from flight B in the playoffs.
