Coming up on week 5 and half way through the season.
Who you you guys like for DEPOY?

Granted this is from MaxPreps and not eveyone shares on there but what I see.

Vonnie Peace (Dover) picking up where he left off on his GPOY Junior season with already accumulating 14 total touchdowns and leading the state in rushing yards.

CJ Henry (Hodgson) continues to rip apart opposing defenses both through the air and on the ground. Almost 900 yards passing, 8 touchdowns and 0 Ints. While also leading the SilverEagles to a 4-0 start and probable favorites for the State Championship.

Andrew Watkins (Sallies) The other top runningback in the state, has missed the last 2 games due to injury and we see the effect this is having on Sallies.

Debo Williams (Smyrna) Debo is right back on track from where he was a season ago before the leg injury that cost him a good amount of the junior season. He is back to flying around and getting to the ball in a bad mood! He is leading the state in tackles and I expect him to continue to play at a high level and return the Smyrna Eagles to the promise land.

I know they beat Friends last week but who else worthy of noting?

Peace's numbers came against two bad teams. Dover got handled by the two good teams they played and handled to two bad teams they played.. to me that makes them average.. not sure what your point is

The one who has been consistent vs good teams is Debo

Dover got handled. Peace carried his own weight in both of those games scoring all 5 touchdowns Dover had between those two match ups.

No one is saying Peace shouldn't win it. Hell he is the odds on favorite..Dude just asked if there was anyone in the South to consider..

I'm asking besides Friends who else did LF play that would make your nomination valid? Peace has done work vs arguably the top 2 teams in the state, that's valid.

I just checked on max p and they must not have updated his stats. Only showing that Johnson has 2 games registered but he's still in the top 10 which is impressive. The Massey and Cannon kid look like the are putting in some serious ground work also.

Don't know what he did vs Newark but vs Friends he rushed for 121 and 2 Tds.. pretty much ate up the whole 2nd half himself

I’m pretty sure Custis numbers are better than Watkins....100+ every game, last game he had 157 on 10 carries 4TDs, scored at least one or two every game, Peace is the favorite of course, kid is a stud but You know numbers are gonna jump getting 20+ carries a game...

If Peace has good games vs Smyrna and SC, I agree. If not, it's up in the air. Especially if Dover loses one or both of those games.

Peace has already scored 2 touchdowns against the #1 ranked and 3 touchdowns against #2 ranked. No other player or team has done that this year against those guys. Smyrna came close, but that was without their horse- Watkins. So he’s already proven to be way out front. Smyrna and SC will be great games, but won’t be able to stop what Peace from scoring at least 3 or more touchdowns and over 100 yards rushing.

That's a bold statement. I guess Smyrna and SC will have the chance to prove you right, or prove you wrong.

Dover better look to block Dbo. Don't want him coming in like a flight train full speed at Peace.

Tough to do when you have to double and triple Hugo Harp That dude is an animal.. Story within the story. Harp was a state champ wrestler last year for Dover but never played football. Transferred to Smyrna this year and Smyrna coaches coax him out to play. Now he is one of the best DL's in the state. Shame on Dover coaches not getting him out sooner lol

Wasn't aware. Doesn't show on their roster any years and 302 announcers said it was his first year playing. No biggie.. Fun to watch play great feet and hands as well as a big motor. Doesn't take any plays off.

Delmar has 2 with a bunch of yards and tds, Von Arc and Dennard. Dennard had 250 vs queen anns, not sure that other games but they both have a ton. Woodbrige has 2 but they are not as good as the 2 rbs that they had last year. and lake is a one headed monster with Johnson. look for delmar to take the south.

Vonnie Peace is the clear answer to this but if Watkins doesn't get hurt it might be a closer race. Henry and Ames from HVT are big time players and I would listen to a case for Debo because he is a man amongst boys but really no one does the things Vonnie does. In all honesty he should've won DEPOY of the year last year, not just the Gatorade POY.
Now to address the Hugo situation. Hugo played his whole freshman year (he's still on the DHS website), was academically ineligible his sophomore year, and his junior year he was on the team until he caused a scene in Georgetown following the SC game at which time he was removed from the team. I'm glad Hugo has found success, he's always had the talent, but lets stop with the Smyrna coaching staff found some hidden gem stuff. I can't believe no one has questioned how he "transferred" to a perennial powerhouse the summer before his senior year.
With all that being said I can't wait to watch that game, hopefully Sanchez will be healthy and we can see a great game.

Easy game plan for Debo that week. He will have one assignment and one assignment only lol

Isn’t that always the game plan: to stop V. Peace??? It’s easier said then done. The tragedy with Dover, however, is that they have two guys who have been quarterbacks all of their lives, and were great QB’s, but they have the sophomore kid who is neither a run or passing threat to opponents. This is why every team has one assignment-stop Vonnie.

I guess my question, since you are so high up on Peace, is who does the things that DeBo does? Since nobody does the things that Vonnie does.

Yeah I know BiB the media people is more who that was aimed at because they should know better and do better research. I heard it on 302 and saw it all over Twitter.

Phenomenal point and that’s why I can see an argument for him. One of the best DE High School defensive players I’ve seen.

Dover tries to run a system that divides offensive and defensive players like the colleges and professional leagues do. This is why Dover’s defense struggles against great offensive teams. I think high school is a little too early to do that unless you are a private school. When games are close, you will see kids like Peace jump out on defense. The kid is a monster defensively as well. If you remember in the post season last year, where Dover played SC, Peace played both sides of the ball and he was a one man show for Dover by running touchdowns on offense and getting interceptions on defense. Remember that questionable fumble recovery in the end zone where Peace took it out of the kids hands and ran it back? I think that was against Smyrna last year.

“Peace numbers came against two bad teams”
- 20 carries for 120, 2 TD’s vs. Hodg
- 15 carries for 181 3 TD’s vs. Sallies
