We won't have football games to predict for another week, but the DIAA board meets Thursday morning to continue its meeting from last week. COVID protocols will be front and center. Any predictions about what might emerge by close of business Thursday? The meeting was originally scheduled to take place in Dover, but it is now virtual.

I believe there is a greater chance of all athletes being required to wear a mask (indoors and outdoors) than anyone would think. I certainly hope this is not the case.

DIAA would be smart to say - we follow governor/DPH mandates instead of creating all their own new rules which as they learned last time - were hard to repeal and kept things in place for hs sports than were necessary.

Not sure they set anything in stone. They were stuck last year with their regs. Probably will just follow Governors guidelines.
That is exactly what happened, although several members wanted a regulation. They needed 10 votes to pass a regulation, but just 11 members were present.

This morning, DIAA committee vice chair Doug Thompson called on the board to address transfers immediately. He said Delaware basically has free agency, and abuse is rampant. Tampering is an issue. The board chair wants member schools to report alleged violations by other members. He said they should address it right after out of season coaching, so basically never.

The board did approve tournaments for the fall sports. They are going back to what was required before the pandemic. For football, that means a team has to play 8 games to be eligible for the postseason. So if COVID knocks a team below that number, they're out of luck.

Vaccinated students will not have to quarantine if they are considered a close contact.
