DIVISION II FOOTBALL PLAYOFF POINTS AFTER WEEK 9

The Final Week of the Division II Football regular season in Delaware promises to be as nerve-wracking as the first nine weeks have been. After being knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten, DMA is now in a tie with Friends and St. Georges at the top of the table, with the top 2 teams earning the right to host two playoff games if they advance.

Lake and Woodbridge are tied for the final hosting slot, with Lake holding the head-to-head advantage, but Tower Hill resides just behind them, and could jump them both if they defeat Friends in Week 10.

The race for the 8th seed could be the most intense of all. Milford resides there, but must win the “Battle of the Bell” with Lake Forest to earn what would be a 5-point victory. Without it, they open the door to as many as 8 teams who could all work into the mix if they get the right results and additional bonus points in the final week.

Bubble teams Conrad (vs. DMA), IR (vs. Sussex Central), and Glasgow (vs. St. Georges), each face either a 5-point win opponent in Division II, or a 6-point win opponent from Division I.

Simply put, if you’re on the list, you should root for two things:
1) Your team to win
2) Every opponent you played, especially those with 6 or 8 wins at the moment, to win

POINT STANDINGS

Point System
Division I Opponent: 6 Points for a win, 1 Point for a Loss

So it looks like simple math from 5 on down - win and you're in, or lose and it's over.
Not exactly, I believe it is possible for Milford to lose and still get in. My math is horrible, but if the right teams lose, Buccaneers could sneak in at 6-4. If they pick up two bonus points. Am I surprisingly right, or incorrect as usual?

That's correct Ikey, however that would include Hodgson losing to Brandywine, which I don't see happening. However, yes, it is possible.

Milford would pick up 2 points with a Woodbridge and DMA win, is that enough? That is where my math became fuzzy.

Here is my bold prediction, let's see if it's even close: 1. St. Georges 2. Friends 3. DMA 4. Howard 5. Woodbridge 6. Milford 7. Lake Forest 8. Tower Hill

Hodgson still could out point Tower Hill with a Tower Hill lost Hodgson has 22 points +4 with a win vs Brandywine and can get a bonus from St Georges and a bonus from Howard leaving them with 28 points

No, because Tower Hill only played 9 games and would have a higher point index than Hodgson.

Usually not, in fact had they played a 10 game schedule and won the 10th game, their seeding would have been higher.

Looks like if Hodgson wins and Conrad loses, then Hodgson's in. That would be impressive considering the up and down season they've had.

What would be even crazier is if by getting in the injured guys make it back , they put it all together and run the table like the two years...Hey its possible in D2 this year

Hodgson is getting healthy and I think everyone is back except for Outlaw (RB). With him I would give them a fighting chance, but without not so much. They have gone real young here at the end of the year, so a win and a trip to the playoffs has to be considered a successful season imho. If they could go on a run though, it would top last year's run.

Remember even if they get in as 8th seed.... They'd get bounced in the 1st round bc nobody beats STG apparently.
Saint Marks had 'em on the ropes. My opinion is that, unlike DI, there is a lot of parity among the top eight in DII. Regardless of the eight teams that are represented in the DII tourney I think that the old adage "on any given day" applies.

St G is not that dominant. Any team that makes the D2 tournament has a chance this year.. However I don't see a scenario where Archmere makes the field.. schedule too week and some bad losses

You just said last week nobody stands a chance with them. Now they're not that dominant? Make up your mind.

I agree.... I believe it's a toss up right now. Hell Woodbridge has been playing some damn good football lately. They're in as a #6 or 7 seed and those #2 or #3 seeds(DMA and Friends) sure won't have an easy game. Friends beat them earlier in the season but Woodbridge has been a different team since then.

Archmere really would like that Tatnall game back now, think that may have been their first game with the new coaching staff

I eventually got to see them in person.. They are like every other D2 team this year.. Am I not allowed to change my mind? OH i guess I am flip flopper.. You must choose a position and stay with it regardless of other facts that come into play? I still think STG is the team to beat but they are beatable,

Nowhere anywhere did I say if HVT made the field would they would win it,, I said they would have just a good of chance as others

Oh that much has changed in one week huh? They didn't play last week due to the forfeit and just spanked Glasgow 44-0. So.... What changed so much in one week? Change your opinion all you want, you've flip-flopped all season on different teams.

Hey dumbass I just said they are the favorite... but I said its also not a slam dunk done deal.. whats your ****ing problem?

Dumbass huh? My problem is you flip on everything you say and you're a troll. I tried to have a decent debate/conversation with you and just asked for an explanation on your reasoning and you come with "hey dumbass", but if you want to be like that, jso be it. Just shows how immature and pathetic you really are. I was one who said last week that D2 is very competitive and numerous teams could win it all. You were the one who said STG was by far and easily the best team in D2. Now it's "anybody can win it but STG's is the favorite" All I asked is what changed so much in one week? The 44-0 blowout of Glasgow wasn't impressive enough for you? BTW, I think STGs is the favorite right now too but I also believe teams like Howard, Lake, and DMA could beat them.

Getting salty in here again.

St Georges will win DII this year. They aren't unbeatable but nobody in DII will beat them.

If the Archmere team that just steamrolled St. E's were to show up against the St G's team that struggled against St. Marks advantage Archmere. The consensus on the message board appears to be that no one team can go into the tourney with the belief that they are unbeatable. If they do they will exit pretty quickly. It will be fun to watch!

Archmere is done though .

I could say the same about STG. If the STG team that demolished Hodgson shows up nobody will beat them .
