Donte

Donte has not even reached his full potential yet as a player and has many assets that create problems for teams. 1st he is a freakish athlete, has size as a 6' 4" guard, can shot, can create for others and deliver passes on a dime. He is a proven winner with 2 state titles including one where he carried a team. He fits into Villanova's style of play which relies heavily on big shooting guards and small forward in its motion sets. They have a lot of talent in the backcourt but don't be surprise to see him play a big part in their success quicker than expected.
Actually would like to see Nova redshirt him like Cuse did for Cooney. Ryan Arch is a sr this year and who knows if Brunson has a stellar yr, he could be a one and done.

I respectfully disagree w/your assessment. Maybe you should take a look at the roster. Not saying he won't get any burn, but just think he would do better if he sat. It happens all the time when teams over recruit. Just curious, what other schools offered?

Well he would be the 4th guard in rotation. Brunson, Booth & Ryan are ahead of him in the rotation. I understand he may not want to sit, but it could be in his best interest. It worked out well for Trevor; gets you acclimated to the student life. Still practice with team and learn the offense. He would be good to go next yr. The B.E. is no joke once again.

I always thought that Donte would have to red shirt his first year at NOVA. People forget that Dylan ennis would have been here had he not transferred for his senior that. That transfer moved Donte up a spot, it will be interesting to see what they do with him.

Phil Booth and Josh Hart are still alive and well also, very crowded backcourt at Nova. They also got a transfer Paschall whos a guard that was Fordhams leading scorer last year as a freshman. Will be interesting to say the least.

Looking at he video clip...he is getting hyped as "legendary...." by the PA announcer.... Pretty heady stuff for a frosh.
I have tended to underestimate Donte....and he has proven me wrong.
Therefore Jay Wright doesn't need my advice...

Didn't know about the transfer from Fordham EE.
Here's the full list of recruits on Campus just for Basketball Mania. This is just a sample of some of the kids they are recruiting, it does not get any better, but i think he will be fine, he has a lot of un tapped potential. i think he played in Delaware at about 1/2 of what his full potential is even with the 2 state titles. Those wars in practice at villanova and the big east will get the rest out of him. Cooney is a great player but Donte unlike Cooney is not only a great player but a freakish athlete so his sealing can only be limited by his work ethics and how he deals with adversity going forward. Villanova even when I played against them uses an offense that relies heavily on guards and small forward position, so multiple guards rotations and small forwards is not uncommon for them. He will get opportunities, he just has to leave everything on the floor and make a name for himself.

You didn't even mention Trevon Duval, 5 star, 2017. He's the top guard regardless of class.

Was aware of the Fordham transfer EE. Rotation gets deeper. Def will be interesting.

You make good pts. I just hope he doesn't take that route and at least experience a bit of college life for a yr. We all know he's a one and done.
