DII
1. Hodgson 2-0
2. St. Georges 1-1
3. Lake Forest 1-1
4. DMA 2-0
5. St. Mark’s 0-2
Howard 31 McKean 16….........Great win for McKean last week at Glasgow but the Highlanders have only beaten Howard once since 2004. Howard won easily 36-0 last season.
Glenn Mills 20 Caesar Rodney 14…….Glen Mills is 1-2 so far this season and it looks like CR is still struggling to get going.
Newark 34 Appo 23…………..Looks like another Jekyll and Hyde type of season for Newark. The Yellowjackets need to be more consistent week to week. Newark won 44-15 last year.
Sussex Central 34 Queen Ann’s County 30……..Sussex Central faces another out of state foe this week before getting into conference play next week against Sussex Tech.
Christiana 18 Red Lion 12………Good to see Red Lion get a win last week. Now it’s Christiana’s turn.
St. Mark’s 31 Brandywine 8……Hard to figure the Spartans being 0-2 right now but the good news is they have plenty of time to turn things around. The turnaround starts this Friday against Brandywine who has been outscored 86-6 so far this season.
Cape Henlopen 35 Indian River 14…..Looks like a tough season for IR. Cape won 43-7 last year.
Delmar 20 Caravel 19……..Went back and forth with this game. Both teams are 0-2 and have a rich history of winning, good coaching and I believe are better than their records would indicate. Going with Delmar at home. Last meeting was in the 2013 playoffs where Caravel was victorious 33-17
Lake Forest 27 Dover 21……Another tough game to call. Both teams have played a tough schedule so far and stand at 1-1. Lake has Woodbridge up next and Dover faces off with Smyrna next week. Lake wins at home.
Milford 24 St. Andrews 6…..Milford rebounds from their loss to DMA
Salesianum 31 Smyrna 21……Game of the week. In a total contrast of styles Salesianum will face Smyrna Friday night in a much anticipated match-up. So far Smyrna has been unstoppable outscoring their opponents 120-0. Smyrna QB Nolan Henderson has thrown for 345 yards and 5 TD's this season in 2 blowout victories. Salesianum is no slouch on offense either; scoring 42 and 45 points in their 2 opening games this season. RB Colby Reeder leads the way with 305 rushing yards and 7 TD's so far. I think the Sals will get enough stops on defense and the running of Reeder will help them control the clock on offense. This looks to be the beginning of a new rivalry and should be a great game.
Sussex Tech 28 Laurel 12……Sussex Tech has Sussex Central up next and better not overlook a Laurel team coming off a nice win over St. Elizabeth’s.
William Penn 35 A.I. DuPont 14……The William Penn defense looked great last week at Middletown in a 13-7 win. Expect the Colonials to get their offense rolling against the Tigers. William Penn defeated AI 56-23 last year.
St. Georges 41 Dickinson 8……..Dickinson is winless for the season 0-2 and winless all-time vs. St. Georges. The Hawks had a nice win 35-14 over Howard last week.
Concord 38 Mount Pleasant 20……..Great win for Mount last week against Newark. Defeating a big physical Concord team is a different story.
Hodgson 30 Glasgow 14……..Not sure Glasgow is healthy enough right now to hang around in this one.
Delcastle 14 Polytech 8……..Delcastle hasn’t scored yet this season (shutout by Charter last week 27-0) and Polytech has surrendered 102 points in their 1st two games. Polytech is 5-2 all-time vs. Delcastle.
Archmere 26 Tatnall 7……The Auks have won 6 straight against Tatnall including 42-18 last year. Make it 7 in a row this weekend.
Middletown 48 Charter 7……These teams have played every year since 2006 and Middletown has outscored Charter by a total of 412-67 in those games. Also not a good spot for the Force catching Middletown off a loss.
Woodbridge 21 Friends 17……..Friends won 24-20 last year and this year should be another close game. Woodbridge is off to a good start at 2-0.
Conrad 28 St. Elizabeth’s 26……..Another good matchup this weekend and probably the game of the day at Delaware Stadium. This is another game that Conrad really needs to win to prove that they’re a legitimate DII playoff contender. St. E will be looking to rebound from their loss to Laurel last weekend. With only 6 seniors the future is bright for the Vikings.
DMA 27 Tower Hill 14……..DMA won 34-14 last year and they're looking to start a 2nd consecutive season at 3-0.
Last week 12-6
Season 24-10
