Cape (11-3) vs Sallies (10-5) at Appo High. This game is a continuation of a rain delay game where Sallies is 3-1 in the top of the seventh.

Cape (11-3) @ Appo (14-3). Cape has won three straight games since its debacle of losing to Seaford. Cape has beaten Tech, IR and Lake all pretty soundly. Maybe the wakeup call they needed from Seaford. Appo has had 7 straight wins. They had a few wins against lesser opponents Charter, Concord and A.I. But they did beat Newark, DMA (13-1), Delmar (4-0) and just recently St G (4-1). This is Appo’s last game of the regular season. Appo beat Cape twice last year, 13-0 in the regular season with Garrett on the mound and 10-2 in the championship game with Steckline on the mound. A loss to Sallies and Appo shouldn’t effect Cape’s ability to get into the playoffs, but wins would certainly give them a much better seed.

Polytech (12-4) @ Smyrna (13-2). This is basically Poly’s last hurrah for the season. They do play Christiana tomorrow, but I’m betting that won’t be competitive. Now they have a big conference Rival to take on. Poly has won 4 of its last 5, with only a close loss to Delmar, 4-2, their only negative. Poly has had a great season but they have not pulled off the really big win. They did beat Tech, Milford and Lake so its not like they have had cupcakes. They lost a 3-1 game to Dover but lost 9-1 to Archmere and 5-1 to Cape. A big win over Smyrna would really give Poly a boost going into the tourney and possibly move them up a slot or 2 in the seeding. Smyrna has had a great season. They are on a 7 game winning streak and their only losses are to two top 5 teams, Caravel 6-2) and Mtown (2-1). They have beaten top ranked St Marks as well as Appo and Dover. Smyrna finishes up tough with Poly, Cape and CR. Smyrna is certainly in the playoffs and will be pretty high ranked, especially with a strong finish. Smyrna beat Poly 12-0 last year and the previous 3 seasons as well but in closer games.

Tech (9-8) @ Lake (10-6). Tech has had a tough year. A terrible start, then a 7 game winning streak and now they are on a 4 game losing streak. Their last 4 game over 5 days have been brutal losing to St Marks (8-0), Cape (7-3), Poly (6-4) and Smyrna (3-2). Tech is scary though because they don’t play like a 9-8 team. Most would argue that they are one of the better teams in the state when they are on. Lake does not have an easy finish with Tech and Sallies. They are currently a half game up in the conference, but that might not be the case after the day is done if they lose. Lake was on a pretty quiet tear all season at 9-3, but they have lost 3 of their last 4 games (losses to Smyrna, CR and Cape). Lake has a good shot at getting into the playoffs either way, but they could be on the bubble if they lose both.

Delmar (9-7) @ Central (7-7). Delmar is a half game back of the conference lead. They have Central today and Seaford tomorrow. Despite losing to Milford and Lake in the conference, they have an outside shot at the conference mathematically I do believe. Delmar could be on the bubble though without a conference bye. Central has no shot at the conference title and is dangerously on the bubble. They do have winnable games though playing Delmar, Caravel, Laurel and RLCA. The addition of RLCA is brilliant because they can get a win and lots of bonus points for the one game. Central has quietly been playing pretty decent ball though. Big wins over Milford (10-0), Sallies (3-2) and they have played well in most of their losses ; 4-3 loss to Smyrna; 8-7 loss to Poly; 7-6 loss to CR; 7-4 loss to Lake; 6-4 loss to Cape.

IR @ Milford. Despite being 8-7, Milford is in a pretty decent spot. They are a half game behind Lake, who they beat 5-1 already. Lake also has a tougher finish. Milford has IR & Wood with conference games. Milford also has St marks in a non conference game. So in my mind, if Milford wins out they should be the conference champs since at worst Milford would be 7-6 in the conference and tied with Lake and Delmar, whom they beat.

Archmere (10-5) @ St E (8-8). Archmere’s season has been up and down. A surprising loss to Concord and more recently a 12-8 loss to Wilmington Christian. But a few big wins recently over Tatnall 13-0, Conrad 11-4 and Newark Charter 16-1. They also had a big win over Poly 9-1 earlier in the season. Lately though Arch has won 5 of its last 6. They probably did enough to get into the playoff, but it would help to make sure by winning at least one of its final games against St E, DMA and CR. St E has been a little unpredictable. St E lost to Charter 5-1 just recently and Newark 8-2. A few weeks back they got beat by Newark Charter 10-0??? They also got beat by Tatnall and Wm penn earlier in the season. But they do have a 4-3 win over Conrad. St E is surely on the bubble and with Arch and Sallies on its schedule they obviously HAVE to get at least one win to even be considered.

St G @ Bwine. St G should rebound after losing their last 2 games (Conrad 13-0???). St G should easily be in the tourney, especially with Bwine, IR and Delcastle to finish the season.

Mt P @ Tower Hill. MT P is dangerously on the bubble at 9-8. Tower Hill (7-9) still has a shot at their conference I do believe, but that would be a probably if they don’t finish at least .500. They have Mt P and Dickinson left.

Glasgow @ Newark. Glasgow has quietly played well this year at 11-5. They haven’t beaten a single team that is even close to a playoff spot though. They finish up with Newark and Howard so 2 wins might just do the trick. Newark at 8-9 with 2 straight losses have to win to even have a shot at being considered. Just not sure they make it even with a win.

Tatnall @ St Andrews. Tatnall leads their conference with a 5-1 record with TH at 6-2 and Friends at 4-2. Tatnall has lost 5 of its last 7 games though. In its last two they were shut out by Mt P and Arch by a combined score of 24-0. Tatnall beat St Andrews 6-5 early in the season.

RLCA @ St Thomas More. RLCA lost its first game to a struggling St Andrews team a couple of games back but have won 2 games straight over Christiana and Delmarva. At 14-1 and a very weak schedule I’m not sure they are in yet. They do have St Thomas More and a Sanford team that hasn’t won yet this year, so one would think they will be 16-1 before they play their late pickup on the schedule of Central.

Hodgson @ Wm Penn. Both teams are probably in a bad spot on the bubble. Hodgson is 8-8 and has Wm Penn and DMA. If they win both I think they will get in for sure. A split might be enough. But losing two they would definitely be out. They have been playing much better in the second half going 7-3 in their last ten games. BUT…Hodgson hasn’t beaten anyone thats half way decent other than Glasgow. Wm Penn at 7-8 has been way too inconsistent this year. They could sneak in though with a strong finish against Hod, CR and Wood. But losses this year to Friends, Glasgow and most recently a 14-1 loss to Charter has killed them. They have played well at times with 5-3 wins over DMA and St E, a 13-1 win over Newark and a close 3-2 loss to Appo.

Smyrna beats Polytech 10-0 in six innings
Archmere defeats St. E 7-3
Milford and IR tied at 8 in the 4th.

Interesting Monday so far.
