Glasgow melee

I didnt see in the story where it stated it was basketball players or not. Said it was kids from differing neighborhoods going at it.. turf wars .. It did state all after school activities including the boys and girls basketball games were off tonight though.. WFS has them listed as postponed.

Was informed that Glasgow will have 4 players suspended. 3 starters.

I'm not sure how many games or for how long the Glasgow players will be suspended for but with their game vs William Penn being rescheduled for this Friday & them playing their makeup game against McKean this Wednesday they may have dodged a bullet if those players are back Friday for the Glasgow game.

Last year when "Melee 1" occurred, the players involved played that night and were suspended the next day from school, but played in their game that night. At the school I coach at, if you fight you are suspended for 5 days. It can be upped an additional 5 depending on the severity of the fight. Bringing the amount of police, the severity of the fight(s), the fact that they had to close the school, on top of the huge negative press it brought on the school. Put that together with the fact that they have to play in an empty gym, pre-sell tickets to earlier games, and regularly fighting after home games. No other school has the environment that Glasgow present in high school basketball here in Delaware.
Now "Melee Part 2". Being that they haven't been in school since the fights, those players could be out till next week easily. Forget basketball suspensions, from school... That being said, It's Glasgow so anything is possible!
As an aside, is the McKean game going to be blocked to the public, and is the Penn blackout still in place?

According to Penn's website schedule.... it's still no sale at door.

Is there any specific reason why only the William Penn game is not open to the public on Glasgow's schedule, while the McKean & Dickinson games do not mention that it is closed to the public?

That was set by WPHS not GHS. It's WP's home game and they don't want any nonsense to brew over.

Got it. That's understandable...I can remember in the past that William Penn had began having their games earlier on the account of fights breaking out so I'm sure they don't want any additional other schools bringing more trouble.

I remember when WP had a season where 2 or 3 games resulted in fights and another game someone was shooting in the parking lot. Crazy stuff people bring to games and its a shame.

And I don't meet to only call out WP, I know it happens every where. Delcastle had one, Dover/CR has had many.
Just saying I see why WP is with extra precautions

Looks like McKean took the same route as William Penn as their game against Glasgow will no longer be open to the general public as well. Glasgow's only other game is Senior Night for them next Tuesday so I can't imagine that they will choose to close their own game to the public on Senior Night.

I saw Glasgow squeaked by McKean last night 79-78...anyone know if they will have any players back yet for the game against a hot William Penn team tomorrow?

It makes you wonder where Glasgow’s values are if they allow these players to play. Without rules, regulations, and student accountability how can we expect this not to happen again.

It would be crazy to think there could potentially be a playoff game not open to the general public.

Glasgow will have a home game in the playoffs & they are not going to close that to the public. Their last regular season game next Tuesday is at home against Dickinson & it is open to the public as of right now.

They won’t close their own home game, but they are fine with other teams losing their revenue. Crazy.
