This year football in my opinion was not very strong.I watched many games. Went to most big games Div I and Div II. I do feel it was exciting because many teams were evenly matched. Many Coaches have done great jobs. Some with lots of talent then some with very little.

Jude Smyrna - Lots of talent they keep it going,

Blum Middletown - 1st Year did well supposed to have the team to beat so we will see if they finish the job. I thought Wp out Played them or played right with them.

Moffett Hodgson - Great job losing game one. But they played tough rest of season. Not a great end but Smyrna was impressive tonight.

Wells Sussex Central - Teams well Coached but I feel product of a week schedule.

Candelero - Really had CR playing well this year. Really big turn around. Very impressed withe the job done.

Dooley William Penn - Very impressed with his job. They improved allot from start to finish. Losing 29 to O against Middletown week 2. Then to lose by 8 with the ball driving the ball at then end of the game. Very impressed with coaching Job,

Div II - I want to do a little more research

D1 Smyrna is really Judy/Marks Marks runs that O and is responsible for Wilsons growth in running that O.. but I would vote Dooley , Penn is a tough job getting those kids to buy in and they had the most improvement

D2 is all Hearn...Delmar is by far the best coached team in D2

IMO D2 has a 1A and a 1B:

Dave Hearn, Bob Tattersall. Those guys and their staffs (crucial) do a great job. Always seem to be on same page and get the absolute most out of their kids.

You can knock Friends and their schedule all you want, but they are there year after year and always find a way to knock off a playoff opponent or two.

Candeloro is not only a great coach but a great person. Never been a CR fan. I am now.

Yeah foshizzle bizzle that’s the nizzle haha, candy did a very good job and more importantly the kids played for him which speaks volumes to the job he did, don’t underestimate how important it is to get the kids to buy into what you’re trying to do! RIDER PRIDE !!!

In D2, Strickland at Milford has to get some consideration. Milford was 1-9 three years straight before he got there. Since they have gone 6-4, 9-1 (playoffs) and 7-3 in the state championship. First time milford has ever gone to the playoffs in back to back years. While Hearn is a great candidate, he’s been there and this isn’t new to him. Strickland on the other hand is in his first years as a head coach.

Moffett's the pick for D1. 5-5 last year in D2 to 8-2 and playing for Flight A title in game 10. Went into Penn on Penn's homecoming and dominated Colonials. Oh yeah, and all with a freshman QB.

Milford looks like a rec team like many DE teams. Just saying no Bowman they arent in the picture

Take will knight away from smryna and they aren’t in the championship. Take Bam outta Concord, every team has a stud or two. Why not feed them, especially if nobody can stop them. Ravens, get off the hate train!

Exactly. Take any star from any team and they ain’t shit.

Except Caravel because they have no stars. They’re just a bunch of silver spoon (in RR’s case fake silver spoon) little girls. Young women. They’re better sticking to nerf ball.

Moffett and Hodgson did a great job in their first year in D1. Their future looks bright with a young backfield with Hale and Henry. As far as the freshman QB he did “redshirt”, I mean reclassify, like Wilson at Smyrna. Both left CA and it worked out pretty well. Blum got Coach of the Year in Flight A. Impressive job switching from D coordinator to Offense taking over for Delpercio.

The all-conference and conference awards have always been wacky. Could be dead wrong, but Blum getting COTY feels like an acknowledgement for a guy that has been a long-time assistant finally sitting in the big chair and doing a great job keeping things flowing. Some strong coaching work being done at the top levels of Flight A.

Blum would be far down on my list for this year. Inherited a team with all the pieces, and only had to "not mess things up". Give him some time to put his own stamp on the team before handing out accolades. There's no rush.

Agree. Would love to see Friends play a more competitive regular season schedule. However, you can't knock them too much as they have won playoff games 4 years in a row with 3 Semi-Finals and one Final in four consecutive years with wins over Archmere, Lake Forrest, Milford, and St. Georges during that time. They are doing something right. They usually have 4-5 guys that can really play and then plug in some guys that they coach up really well. You can usually forget about Post-Season honors for Tattersall and/or his players because as RR said a few days ago, they are the Rodney Dangerfield of Delaware HS football and get no respect around the State and I would bet that this is just the way Tattersall wants it.
