High School 7v7

Good to see some new teams in it.. HVT, Newark, St Georges, Lake.. Also good to see St Marks back in. Got 5 fields in play as well Caravel, AI, Middletown, St Georges and St Marks

And Lake Forest joins Dover & Smyrna from the Henlopen too. Question, is there a league that downstate teams participate ?

MHS looks like the place to be... MT, Dover and Smyrna mixing it up.. might be a rough outing for Lake though lol

Well at least Lake will find out how good they need to be...or won't be, depending on if you're a glass half full or half empty kinda person.

Thinking about heading over to CA.. Interested to see how HVT goes about 7v7 being they have never participated before

normally the schools that host do not travel. So unlikely MT and Caravel will play. Sallies versus one or both of them seems likely.

NCC is slow putting out the remaining weeks schedule. I would guess no games next week since that would be July 3 - but who knows

Schedule just posted. No 7/3 games. Last week of the season (7/31) will give you the MT/Sallies game playing at caravel. Only 4 locations that week so triple headers. Caravel/Sallies the week before at Caravel

as a side note interesting "Point Of Emphasis" in the NFHS rules this year.. wonder how this will effect Smyrna

Pace of Play and Timing Issues

In order to maintain a fair balance between offense and defense, a consistent pace of play should be established and maintained by the game officials during the entire contest. Each team should be allowed an equal opportunity to make substitutions and call plays during the time between the dead ball and the next ready-for-play signal. The pace of play should not change during the contest, and should be the same from game to game, and from officiating crew to officiating crew. Therefore, the committee recommends the ready-for-play signal be given between 12 and 15 seconds after the previous dead ball. This pace of play should be consistent no matter if either team wants to hurry up or slow down. Long incomplete passes, plays into the side zones and first downs may require the game officials to hustle to get the ball and line-to-gain equipment properly set, while short runs up the middle may require a slight delay before marking the ball ready for play.

Consistency is the goal without regard to particular game situations. To accomplish a consistent pace, the referee should develop a “feel” for 12 to 15 seconds. This feel can be accomplished in many ways. A few examples could be for a referee to establish a routine of duties to perform after each dead-ball whistle, then mark the ball ready for-play after completing those duties. A referee could also use the game clock to time 12 to 15 seconds if it is running and easily observable. Lastly, a referee could ask an observer to record the amount of time between a dead-ball whistle and the next ready-for-play so pace -of-play adjustments can be made during their next contest. With some attention by the referee and effort by the entire officiating crew, consistent pace of play can be achieved.

So does anyone have any intel from the games today???

Watched the Middletown vs. Dover/Lake games and Smyrna vs. Dover game. Dover won 39-25 I believe? Could be wrong. Smyrnas QB leaves the ball in the air too long. Almost like if he's arcing it. Too much cornhole in his life. A nice speedy receiver could be their best weapon as far as aerial attack goes. Whaley wasn't in attendance, I would guess all the offense goes through him.

Dovers running back looks the real deal. Shifty, fast, quick, built. Could fight for top Running back in the state this year.

Someone mentioned in a previous thread they can see Dover winning the conference....if the players can stop themselves from pointing fingers and arguing with their coaches there's no reason why I can't argue with that statement. Some talented boys on that team. They just need to bring it together

Lake you could tell that 7on7 was not their cup of tea. The QB threw a good ball, but too many players missing on assignments and routes. A completely different ball game when Smyrna and Middletown are throwing 50 yard bombs

How did Hodgson look?

Looked pretty good.. QB throws a nice ball and has a good arm just need some touch throws everything hard.. a lot of nice sizable athletes as well...If they have good lines they will be formidable in D1 this year..

Newark needs some work but they have some decent athletes as well.. QB is like 6'5 and throws a nice ball guys just weren't on the same page as far as routes and timing

True life is different in pads without a Reeder or Killpatrick for Sals.. need some more plowboys lol

Yea I don't think there is a different league for downstate teams (some downstate teams already travel to play in the normal 7v7 league) but that turf complex is where the DIFCA One Day 7v7 tournament will be held I believe.

Delmar Does a 7 v 7 league, they also just went to a tournament at Morgan state Saturday and placed 6th according to twitter.

St. George's looks to be a good one today with them Appo, Lake Forest (put on a good show against Smyrna) and Dover.

Not sure what Elkton and North East has this year so Middletown and Smyrna should wash them.

A.i. DuPont should be entertaining as well with them, Howard, and Hodgson.
