Damn that was fast.

yeh it was

people gonna ? me on this but oh well..............
D1 has 3 teams guaranteed spots in the show already
Sals
Penn
Cavs

Concord should be there also but we all know how that can go...........so race for last 2-3 spots will be fun to watch!

D2
way to early......especially considering some of the games that took place in week 1

Yeah it's really early, but I figured we all can track it together week to week, that way if I mess up its easier to fix it said week than late in the season and recalculate everything.

Could also teach everyone on how the point system works.

from what i read just give it all to smyrna-hard to believe the hype they have gotten-

I don't know where anyone is saying that... Most are just saying they have a shot at making the play-offs.. No one is crowning them...

I appreciate this HS if no one else'll say it because I've been here my entire life for the most part and STILL can't figure out the points system entirely lol, thank you.

Been doing it for a few years as well, sure to be questions about this later, but any idea of enrollments for these out of state opponents?

My guesses:

Division 1
Judge
O'Hara
Interboro
Oakdale
Dunbar
Baltimore Poly
Queen Anne

Division 2
Cape May Regional

O hara was marked as a D1 team according to their website. Dunbar was said to be division 2 according to theirs.

I have to agree with Green I think you people are giving Smyrna way too much credit from preseason. Put them up against WP at full strength where they have all their starters in, M-Town, or Sallies and I believe they get beat by any of those big 3 teams . Its good that Smyrna is excited and has a new staff and is "fired" up but I dont see them beating any of those 3 teams sorry. Im hoping Smyrna makes the playoffs this year and maybe they will prove me wrong because those 3 teams WP, MT, and Sallies will be there in the playoffs. Just my opinion all this hype about a team we dont even know will make the playoffs .

DEFENSEREST, I am also concerned about people giving Smyrna too much credit but for a different reason. For full disclosure sake, I live in Smyrna and have two boys on the Varsity squad. As a town, we are very excited about where the football team is at now and what the future may hold for them. I am glad to have Smyrna football on the minds of people in the state just like the wrestling team and more recently the baseball team. My only concern is when people hype a program that traditionally hasn't made waves before, there seems to be a natural tendency for people to root against that upstart team for some reason. Of course, some of the attitude is based on the ideal that respect has to be earned and not just given out haphazardly based on a few metrics. I understand that but there are people who know a lot more about football than I do who are excited about the team so I have to trust that the team is as good as I think they are. So many weapons on offense and a much improved defense leads many to be interested in the team. I only ask that those who like Smyrna football be careful not to put too big a target on teams' back since these kids read these posts. Come to think of it, given the culture Coach Judy is cultivating, they may welcome naysayers and take the challenge head on. As a grey hair, I would rather people wait...at least two more weeks :) before assessing how good Smyrna football will be this year. But, I don't care so much about the record when the dust clears. It's not really about this year anyway. When building a program that can be sustained, it's about doing things the right way, getting buy in from the kids and community, discipline, work ethic, classroom performance, player development over time. These are the values that the coaching staff bring to the Eagles.

I wouldn't worry so much about the fodder on the forum.. Smyrna has allot to be excited bout... I don't see anywhere on here anyone saying they are better than Sallies, Middletown or William Penn this year... Most of what people are calling "HYPE" is some of us discussing the "potential" of the program and where its heading.. For those of us that pay attention there are plenty of signs that would lead us to believe this team has a shot to make the play-offs and who knows from there.. I adopted their logo on here more as me just being funny and poking at the naysayers.. :) Now I have vowed to keep it until they lose...haha

I agree RR, I like the fact we are seeing a couple of programs turning into potential contenders, it makes the season a hell of a lot more interesting. I think teams such as MT, Sals, and recently WP, seem to fighting more for the bye week not just making it to play offs. I'm glad programs like Smyrna, Appo, Sussex Tech and now Glasgow in D2 can maybe shake up the pot. I for one like to see more competition.

Just continuing with what others are saying, it's always nice when a new team joins the fray. I'm not ready to crown Smyrna as champions. That has to be earned on the field. However, just being there for the WP scrimmage, anyone with any kind of football knowledge can see that Smyrna is an up and coming team. A lot of us here on the board like to root for the underdog when our team isn't involved, and by the same token there will always be haters. It's all in good fun and it will all be settled on the field.

Haha....I'm about as far from one of those as you can get...even on a good hair day! Wait, I don't have any hair. I usually post on the wrestling forum but show up every now and then on football and baseball discussions. With pups in the kennel, I try to keep comments pretty generic. Hope all the kids have fun, learn some life lessons, and finish the season healthy. The further Smyrna football can get in the postseason, the longer they can delay the start of wrestling season so "CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SONS,"....you know the rest!...

Smyrna is a much improved team. But Not in Class with the Big Three. I was at the scrimmage Wm. Penn vs Smyrna Penn was with bout like 10 starters do to team misconduct. Coach Dooley does not play. Just missing the two Outside Pass Rushers on Frank Burton and Elijah Lewis.

Is Appo that good? Still building the program?
They won huge first game but opponent wasnt much

Good point... I really like the Appo Vs Smryna match-up this week. at least as far as gauging who is what..and setting the tone for the rest of the season for either squad.. IMO it will be a important win for whomever comes out on top...

shs is on the right path
earn it first ,as a fan i would prefer they "sneak"up on people--not happening now
