So many of you have been in the DE HS world for a while…just wondering how you would rank the current staffs…And when you rank them maybe a quick reasoning on what you think makes them a top staff (not just wins/losses).

I won't put mine in an order but I think top coaching staffs would have to be

Smyrna
Woodbridge
Delmar
Archmere
Howard
Sussex Central
Without win loss records all of them over the last few years have been competitve, play hard, usually make the playoffs, and even in down years are still good teams are never easy wins

I talked to a coach recently that said John Wilson from STG is the one guy that gives his offenses fits cause he changes his looks all the time where most teams in DE play the same way most of the schedule.
Last year I think pretty much every game they lost was by less then a touchdown and they had Smyrna on the ropes until the end of the game. I think with a few more years they will probably be one of those coaching staffs as well
Funny STG/Sallies story…I was watching their game early in the year online…it was really hot that day and the kid announcers for Sallies kept saying “the weather must be hotter in Middletown than up here all the time cause they (STG) are dealing with the heat much better….those poor sheltered kids lol

I don’t know why people hype up Sussex Central. I think they’re run is offer to be honest unless I’m missing something.

Sussex does have 2 state titles in the last 4 years and they have been a consistently good team for the last 25 years. More often then not they are onenof the better teams. And this is about coaching staffs, and Sussex has one of the most consistent in the state
you are definitely missing something besides always being well coached they don't have Sussex Tech sucking players away from them anymore.
Smyrna: in my opinion they are head and shoulders above most. Yeah I know they have talent but they have a system (spread offense) and they run it correctly. I see a lot of teams running versions of the spread that make no sense at all.
Howard: Ritter is a great coach. Not much else to say. Good staff as well.
Delmar: Have usually been contenders forever.
Friends: Tatersall is a legend. Another team that in the past has had very good assistant coaches. Disciplined team and fundamentally sound.
Middletown: another program usually loaded with talent but those kids play a tough brand of football yearly no matter what.
