Interesting article ranking sports program

I agree RR, very interesting indeed.

Call me crazy, but Smyrna is a tad bit under-ranked in my opinion for boys sports considering they won D1 titles in football & basketball and placed second in wrestling. I feel like CR and Sallies were ranked much higher due to how well they performed at cross-country/swimming/tennis/golf, which in reality are all women's sports and the argument could be made that they shouldn't be included in the boys sports calculation at all, or if they are at a much lower overall weighting.

Maybe a 3rd category should be created for Boys who Play Girls Sports? I think that may make these rankings a little more reasonable. Does anyone agree? RR?

Mens Soccer(football) is the worlds most popular sport and its not even close

Most watched competition in the world: Football World Cup is by far the most watched sports competition in the world. 3.9 billion people tune in at some point during the FIFA World Cup 2014 making it by far the biggest sport competition. While the final of 2014 world cup was watched by as many 700 million people all around the globe.

Half the world is women so that's a big reason. Then with the males that play women sports added you have the most popular sport

Pickle your statements are pretty much retarded. Smyrna is ranked 8th and a big part of that is the the big points they got from Girls XC, indoor and outdoor track. Without those they would have been probably outside of the top 15.

I was referring to just the boys ranking, as I stated. Not the overall. Sooooo you should rethink the retarded insult and edit the comment to reflect the fact you are the idiot, not me.

Not surprised, the second largest school in the state, it's a numbers game just like Sallies, this shouldn't surprise anyone just saying

Any ranking that awards points for flag football just invalidates itself from jump.

@soccer07 actually unified flag football is a special Olympics event for students with special needs and is a awesome program much like unified track and field. Kids with special needs are apart of the student body and deserve to have the same access to high school sports as any other student does, just saying

The Padua/Ursuline rivalry was interesting at 1 point difference. I expect the Panda's to jump ahead with distance.

I'm pretty sure soccer thought it was regular 7x7 flag football, it's definitely heart warming to see the kids compete and very humbling

My son participate in special olympics and my other is a unified. No one said it wasn't a worthwhile program. I don't see how marching band factors in either, but maybe you do??

@soccer07 maybe I'm wrong but the flag football played during the school yr is unified, you said any points for flag football invalidates itself from the Jump, as I stated earlier maybe I'm wrong and in fact there is a flag football season

I just don't think an activity should be factored into a sports ranking formula. To me it's a way to slide points to public schools for one. Padua, Salesianum, and Vo-techs for that matter have no special needs kids. I also don't think competitive "cheerleading" should count either.
The entire spirit of special olympics is the competition itself, not winning.

You really have to sit back and admire these Sals haters. The best are the ones below the canal, (and they consider the canal the St Jones river)
