So both teams in the championship lost their QB in the Semi's ... Does the D1 championship come down to coaching ? Or is it Knight vs Reeder?

Who is the head coach of Sallies? How long has he been there. I know traditionally they always have good teams.. physical.. etc..

Tim Mastro of the Delaware State News tweeted that Coach Judy said Henderson was okay and he was just being kept at the hospital for observation. Reading between the lines, wouldn't surprise me if he played Saturday.

Knowing Nolan, it would surprise me if he DIDN'T. Without getting too corny, the Smyrna players, to a man, love their QB, leader and friend. Getting him another chance to get back on the field was as good a motivation as any!

I am serious.. I coach in VA and not a DE football guy. I know Sallies has a long history of winning.. I know Coach Glenn and what he did.. etc..
Just I know nothing about the current coach. Sounds like he runs a great program. Does not hurt when you have 4/5 star recruits like the Reeder kids.

Coach DiNardo really is one of the greats in our state. Won at Middletown on the Division II level then went to Sallies and now is building them as a top program in the region. He'll have Sallies MORE than ready on Saturday.

Was it a concussion? Concussion protocol wont clear him.. If it was a neck or back injury he should be good to go... Coach Joe ? really man lay off the homeraide haha

Now just look at that. Real class act

I think his question was legitimate... but I've been accused of being naive!

Ok guys don't get your panties in a bunch. No slight at sallies at all.. But hey studs help a lot. At times the jimmy and Joes make a difference. Hell I am a lot better coach when I have studs too.
I have currently one of the top 5 2019 freshmen recruits in the nation. He makes me a better coach when I feed him the ball.
No slight at sallies at all.. But those reeder kids are big time. They do help.. Studs do help.. Coach Judy and I know that first hand.
Please do not act like they don't.

Ass clown? For what? Again I am not versed on DE football.. Never coached high school ball in the state. I worked the blue chip camp for coach Reynolds and Glenn in the late 90s when I coached at Wesley.. I have no clue about the state coaches. I do know Sallies has been a power for decades..

So Coach Joe your basically saying Judy is the better coach but if he loses its because DiNardo has Reeder?

I believe you are a coach. I do. You took a shot a a sound coach, not sallies

LOL if you followed the board you would get the joke... Just like if you followed DE HS football you wouldn't have question Salles coachimg..

I am not saying that at all.. But big time D1 talent helps big time..
I lost several state semifinals games in VA against big time d1 talent.

2013 lost to a team that had trace mc sorely at qb.. Now penn states QB.. Polk at wr.. Plays for penn at.. Wr that is at Minnesota and a TE at duke.. LOADED!! They went to 4 state championships with him at qb

Two years removed he went 3 and 7..guys do not kid yourself. Big time D1 recruits who touch the ball 30 times a game are a HUGE difference maker.

Not a shot.. Again I had my best teams when I had D1 talent. You guys are WAY to sensitive.

Hell in 2006 we coached against a team that had 8 players on their defense that went division 1 or 1aa.. Two drafted in NFL
That coach won a lot of games
Since then that coach has not had nearly the success.. No shot at Sallies. But yes a kid like Reeder will make a huge difference. When I have studs I am a better coach too.. Some people need to people their ego aside. Talent does trump. But again this is no slight to sallies. He sounds great I am sure.

Actually that post I made I think is incorrect. I think he has been at sallies 11 years with 7 state titles. Either way you get the point. The guy can coach. Basic football , nothing flashy, but his teams are fundamentally sound.

I bet you are a good coach Coach. And good luck to you

Wow..why so salty...

Hey I am a Mike Judy fan.. One of my favorite players I have ever coached.. One of the best coaches I ever had on my staff... Quality guy, tough guy, winner and the type of guy I want my kids to be. So I will root for him and support him. I wish Smyrna the best. I will be rooting for him this weekend too. Nothing against sallies or William penn. I do believe he is a great young coach and will be a force in DE for years to come.

Coach Joe,
It's not you. It's this group of 3 or 4 wannabes who gab and gab, and gab back and forth at each other and jump anyone who chimes in... Its to the point where no one even adds meaningful insights anymore. I have had D-1 players and you re dead on right. Those kids, and parents, who spend all the energy and time getting their kid to that level are the difference makers.
Watch how they respond.....

I just think it is silly to discount the impact of a reeder kid. From what I hear he is around 6 2 or 6 3...220 lbs and runs a legit 4.6'forty.. That is freakish... His brother plays lber for penn state and was a freak. When you have kids going to penn state they are freaks.. Big time.. My freshmen rb has five offers and was at the penn state v Michigan game.. He makes me a much, much better coach....lol.. No disrespect but those players are special and are difference makers..

I get it. You must have players around to support, but without the "Special" players, being at the top or competing with them is difficult.

Everyone got their panties in a bunch that I disrespected sallies... No disrespect but do not discount the impact of reeder.. He makes you a better coach... Everyone got their feeling out of joint about it.. They obviously never coached.. If they did they would know the impact of a big time 4 or 5 star recruit

What folks are saying is Sallies is always well coached and fundamentally sound.. Of course having the Reeders puts them over the top in recent years.. Sallies has always benefited by having a big line by Delaware standards and fundamentally sound players.. When they have a stud like the Reeders they win.. Just like Middletown won with Wade and Godwin

Yep...called coaching.. Get the ball in your playmaker hands anyway possible

How many spread teams that lose their all state best qb in the state.. How many have a plan in place in the second half if he goes down.. Smyrna had a power running game and featured his best player.. Great job!!
