This young man makes his Baynard debut on 9/16.
The Slowskys can't catch a break.

"Without sounding overzealous or braggadocious, I fully anticipate to lead the state statistically in passing yards, touchdowns and completions,” Wagenhoffer said. “It’s my goal to be not only first team in the conference, but first team in the state at QB.”

Wow!

Idk how I feel about this...I love the confidence, but this is probably the first time I've ever heard a player worry about his own statistics and not talk about his team. Ask any player before or after a game, the first thing they usually talk about is teamwork, seems like he's only in it for his own achievements. He's probably a great kid and I'm taking it way out of context, he should have started last year, the kid who started last year was more of an athlete than he was a QB but I do hope those comments are just first week jitters and anticipatment for the first game.

Wagenhoffer was the QB last year 51 for 93 644 yds 3tds 2 picks 78.4 qbr (9games) They are going to have to throw the ball way more than 93 times to get anywhere near Hendersons stats..

I do agree with HS about not mentioning his team goals. Maybe it was left out of the reporter's narrative.

Bummy is impressed by Jared's vocabulary. A jock going into 11th grade using the word "braggadocius."

It's good to have goals, but it's very much a team game. Stats are of limited value in assessing a QB in my opinion. Team strength/weakness, level of competition, game situation and score, usually dictate play calling, and resulting stats. Get the Dubya, and let stats fall where they may.

Agreed, reporters and editors have to make choices, might have left typical team discussion out.

Best of luck to the young man.

Pretty tall task week one vs. Middletown. DB's as well as entire defense are legit.

Young QBs make young QB mistakes. Don't judge too harshly early this year. Everyone has to earn their chops, and going up vs Middletown and Sallies is some rough OJT.

Damn! Story sure reads well. If he is good it will show otherwise it's another dance mom show. Anybody have the El Camino line? Can't find it?

El Camino opens Sat night.. Sills in in a battle with a 6'4 strong armed kid from Cyprus Bay FL.. Neither has been named starter and both will play Saturday

Gonna have a hard time catching Drew Fry in stats let alone Henderson. Fry has five TD in first half up 34-0. Most of CR's passes are bubble screens. They haven't tried going down the field very much.

I'm glad someone brought this back up.

In one of my earlier posts on here I said I'm sure he's probably a great kid and the "one for one" attitude was a mistake by the media who wrote the story, but watching him tonight, I was proved wrong. You can tell he was all about him.

If things weren't going his way, he started mouthing off to the refs (until the ref decided he had a enough and threw a flag on him). If his line didn't do a good job blocking he started telling to the coach to take him off the field, if I'm not mistaken he tried tapping out(tap his helmet before halftime) and the coach told him to stay out. (I'm hoping it wasn't because he was injured, but he did come back after halftime and played rest of the game).

Point is, I'm sure the he's a great kid who is majorly talented, but tonight he just didn't show it. Hopefully as the season goes on, things change and he can be the player he thinks he is. Good luck to him and his future in football and whatever else draws to him.

Kid has always been like this. If it was either at Polytech or CR. Has some upside if he can fit in the right system. I will say this though I like the expectations of being the best QB and throwing the most yards but cmon after tonight reality hurts sometimes.

Depending on your point of view, adversity either builds or exposes character. I tend to believe it builds character. Tough challenges and beat downs tend to be ten times more valuable to a player's development than 40-0 routs of Sisters of the Blind.

I tend to be more Kenny Power-ish to my nephews as a cold water slap in the face of reality and challenge to get better.

How did he get this attitude? Parenting comes to mind.. just saying.. hope the kid gets the lesson and turns it arround
