He got hurt yesterday on the 4th play of the game, but Shepard still won. Play Grand Valley State for National Championship next week.

How come no News Journal coverage. Several local kids playing for a national title. Without reading this forum I would not have had a clue about Shepard.

They don't even cover the FCS for D1AA. No scores or reports at all. Yes folks Kasey Keeler's team Sam Houston State is still playing in the semi's. Instead they print PGA golf stats all the time. I don't need to see who is the top golfer 4 times a week.

Now that I opened the News Journal subject. Still nothing on this years high school basketball season? I get the paper delivered to my door every day. Did I miss it?

They don't even list NFL, NBA or MLB stats. I remember as a kid every Sunday pouring over the MLB stats. Most papers carry the entire list by league of anyone with enough at bats to be eligible for the batting title. The NJ can't even the top 10 per average, RBI and home runs for each league. How about the top 5 rushers per conference for the NFL? Passers? Anything?

I am not a newspaper man by any sense but I could make the News Journal sports section better in about 10 minutes.

I agree. Coverage of local kids at all levels - even after they've left Delaware at the collegiate level would be great. When they do write pieces like this, I'm locked in.

Now let's see if someone from the News Journal monitors this site and writes an article about Sheperd prior to the game. I think an article like this is even worthy of a pic and caption on the front page at the top to direct readers directly to the sports page.

Today 12-17-15 the News Journal actually had NBA stats in the paper. Top players in points, assists, rebounds and field goal percentage. Maybe someone is paying attention to DEPreps?

Shepard got hammered in the final. Ziemba played hurt. At least they got there. NJ had a article about the final but failed to note the Delaware players.

They have however increased their stats in the paper. After 3 days of more PGA/SPGA/LPGA Tour stats they listed both 76er and Flyer team stats today. Now how about weekly league stats? OMG what a concept!

That was one gutsy performance by Ziemba. His O line was overmatched and he paid a price for it. You could see he was hurt and kept coming back....a leader.

Ziemba is a solid athlete. I believe got baseball schollie to Delaware but gave it up to play football.

If he gave up a scholie at a more prestigious school academically to play a different sport then I'm glad he is suceeding at another place.
