Per the News Journal:
14. Massey, SR Woodbridge
13. Robinson, SR CR
12. Arnold, SO Hodgson
11. Benson, SR St. George's
10. Benham, SR St.Mark's
9. Trader, SO Delmar
8. Jones, SR St. E's
7. Watkins, JR Sallies
6. Smith, JR Mtown
5. Dennard, SR Delmar
4. Peace, JR Dover
3. Whaley, SR Smyrna
2. Alleyne, SR DMA
1. Kane, SR Woodbridge

Peace was really off his game against SC because he’s a nice kid and he felt so bad about the obvious fact the SC’s announcer has such a sad existence

Dennard and trader both should be higher, they have to share carries or they both would have over 1000 yards already and they only played in the 2nd half one time vs st. Mary's. jones from St'es over trader??? I do think Kane is the best RB in the state.

I might have to agree with you on that one. Those two are different!

I dont really agree with Kane being the best RB in the state, but based on 6 games he has been the most consistent and put up at least a touchdown against every opponent.

This list is terrible. Right kids, wrong order.

Should be Peace, Alleyne, Kane, Whaley then pretty much the rest. The Delmar kids are solid but shouldn’t be higher. They haven’t played the anyone outside of St. Mary’s and the holes they have been running through half you in here could be near 1000 yds. Trader and Arnold should be switch. Banks from Penn should be on replacing Massey or Robinson.

I haven't seen any games except for Delmar, but Jones from St Elizabeth looked like a JV back compared to Dennard and Trader.

May I remind you that Dennard ran for 7 TD last year in the state semis vs AI DuPont?

I was at that game and Jones (STE) was easily getting 5yds a carry in the first half. (I left at halftime) The Delmar kids were breaking long ones left and right, so I think that might have skewed your perspective. Jones is solid!

For those of us who have no idea what you’re talking about, what’s the story of SC’s announcer?

Go to a sussex central game and find out

He basically announces the game as if he is a pro wrestling announcer with weird “catch phrases”, nicknames for SC players, sound effects and it’s really really weird that an adult announcing a high school game would be like that.

He also announces while the opposing team is going through their cadence and calls out their formations, etc.

It’s odd to say the least

“Tiiiiiiiiimmmmmmeeeeeee oooooouuuuutttttt”

SC has the best defense in the 302, no real weaknesses imo

would the young man from DMA still be as good playing against stiffer D1 defenses. No disrespect but it is easier to put up big numbers against some off the cupcake D2 schools. Don’t get me wrong, he is definitely talented just thinking out loud

Common opponent look at what Peace did against Archmere vs what Alleyne did
I don't believe he would be doing anything close to what he does in D2, however in regards to the Archmere game, I saw the highlights on wdel.com and he is still hurt. He was running back a kick or punt in a full limp.

'New Blood / Ric Flair style" on the D2 scene !!!
For some reason there is "little" love for the boys from the Delmar Wildcats. I have seen a couple of their games and the 4-6 running backs they use could start on just about any other D2 team in the State. Denard is a rare combonation of power and speed & has a wicked stiff arm. Trader is simply one of the best atheletes in the State ( as a sophmore ) and runs with power & speed as well but also has another quality that is tough to define. Call it a "Brain for the Game" or a hyper competitive edge. As to the "haven't played anybody yet" comments,Delmar apparently has trouble finding non-conference games. Archmere dropped them, Friends & AI are never available, Dover wamts no part of Delmar after the back to back loses in 06 & 07. Md "Bayside" teams near them will not play them. So they play whoever they can get. Acorrding to the post's earlier in the year St E @2-0 was going to be a decent game; and Saturdays Lake Forrest game ( which I attended ) was suppossed to be a "good test" was anything but a test. Delmar had all the answers in advance provided by the best coaching staff in Delaware. Anyway I have read the Football "board for a couple of years & finally decided to throw in my 2 cents. Whewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

Yes because speed translates to every level. Not like he is running over smaller kids with his massive legs.

Are the defenses stiffer and bigger or are there just more big guys?

It just seems like depth to me. I don’t know. I have watched a few games with D1v D2 and they look pretty close in size. It could just be my eyes or the pads.

Sounds like the super annoying announcer at UD games! He never shuts up and always has his ridiculous little “phrases.” He’s even more difficult to take at the basketball games!

I'm sure Jones is a good athlete, but this is high school football we are talking about. The ability to make the big, breakaway plays is what separates the good from the great high school running backs.

Jones definitely was getting 5 or so yards on a number of his carries in the Delmar/St. E game, but he also got stuffed at the line and caught in the backfield quite a bit too. His longest run of the game was less than 15 yards, and he only had a couple of plays longer than 10 yards. He never had a breakaway play all game.

In the game against Delmar, I would say Jones was the fourth best runner on the field, behind Dennard, Trader, and the Delmar QB Angello. Now a lot of that is from how much better the Delmar Offensive line was than the St. E defensive line, if Jones were running behind the Delmar offensive line he could very well have been the best runner on the field that game.

Maybe the Delmar game was an anomaly for Jones and he really is a better all around back than Trader is as the News Journal rated him. As I said, I have only seen him once. But from what I saw I don't think he is.

I agree with 90% of your take on that game. Jones is a bruiser. If you noticed he was playing fullback, not halfback. He runs between the tackles, that's his game. Not a fast kid compared to the Delmar trio.

I think the Kane kid from Woodbridge is the real deal. He put up 100 yards per game this year against team such as: Dover, Milford and Friends (all playoff caliber teams) what more do you want from the kid. You take Woodbridge one of the smallest public schools in Delaware and those kids are playing on a high level. The same goes for Delmar. Kane has been racking up many yards since his freshman year, so this year is no surprise or is it a fluke.

Most teams collect the stats for their own personal use.
Send out to college coaches and also to bring to the table during all conference and all state meetings.
Outside of that many of places do not bother posting the stats anywhere.

If the 3 time (in a row) State Champions post their stats, I'm sorry, I'm posting mine too!
