Its only two weeks into May, so here's HS Too Early Top 10 for each Division.

Division 1
1. Smyrna - Champs until someone can prove otherwise
2. Middletown - New Coach but returns more talent than any other team not named Smyrna.
3. Sallies - Returns key contributors on their fronts, only question is who will be the feature back, and who will be the top WR, after losing Patrick and Drake.
4. William Penn - Young team last year, and reached the semi-finals. Should compete again.
5. Concord - always sound, great talent, but too predictable when it comes to offense. Still top 5 teams.
6. Sussex Central - Last year they seemed like they found their stride, BUT, couldn't match up with Penn well enough to make that next tier.
7. Cape Henlopen - much like Concord, always sound, great athletes, but lack the will to play at the level of some of the top teams in the division.
8. St. George's - despite it being the first week of the seasons, the Hawks showed they could hang with Division 1 teams falling just short against Penn at their own field.
9. Appo - with a tough conference schedule that is somewhat "penciled" in 4 losses, barring a surprise upset against the four flight a teams above them, 6-4 is what's expected.
10. Hodgson - if not for the tough flight a, they could be contenders, but after a few fall off years starting slow, something you can't do against stiffer competition, the Eagles will struggle but won't be blown out like some.

Division 2
1. Woodbridge - Currently one of the most consistent winning teams in division 2, coach manlove will have his team ready to defend their title.
2. Milford - after an impressive season last year, the Bucs are ready to challenge the Raiders for that crown.
3. Caravel - will be competitive, but with a tough schedule looming, they will either be dominant, or nonrelevant.
4. Wilmington Friends - much like Woodbridge, has been consistent and will make the playoffs, schedule certainly helps but they will be competitive against the best.
5. DMA
6. St. Marks
7. Howard
8. Archmere
9. A.i. DuPont
10. Laurel

Not much info to go on this early in the game, just speculation until camps start and the pads go on. The title of the thread was no longer fitting by the time I finished this but who cares.

I will be out checking out some spring ball but here is what I have..
Division 1
1. Smyrna
2. Middletown
3. Penn
4. Sallies
5. Concord
6. Sussex Central
7. ST G
8. Cape
9. HVT
10. Appo

Division 2
1. Woodbridge
2. Glasgow
3. DMA
4. Wilmington Friends
5. Howard
6. St. Marks
7. Milford
8. AI
9. Laurel
10. Caravel

Caravel and Milford are losing a lot of seniors. Friends is losing a lot of senior starters in their senior heavy team. DMA is losing seniors but I think their line will make up for it. Watch DMA they could be a sleeper

Bucs.....won't argue that, but couldn't think of anyone to replace...::got a good replacement?

Wanted to rank Glasgow higher but they lost their leading QB, it's going to hurt them.

HS, Nice piece of analysis. I think you have the Slowskys ranked too high. The O line tackle to tackle will graduate 4 of the 5 starters. Of course, they had some depth in the 11th grade core (based on some notes I made). I think a critical thing is if the big kid comes back to the program and plays on the Oline? Who knows?

Having said that they always seem to have size and quality performers up front.

A feature back is another issue. I thought Patrick was the real deal. He played like 4 positions last year. I don't think they will have a quality RB returning this year.

My take is that nobody else will have the horses and the program of Smyrna and Middletown. There is a big fall off after those 2. I think that they will be playing each other again in the last game of the year.

My unofficial opinion will agree with you Bummy, but for the mere fact that I wanted to create a conversation that doesn't involve just those two schools (like last season) I had to try and give reasons as to why it could be anyone but Smyrna or Middletown this year.

Division 2 is a different story, it's anyone's year really. That division should be fun to watch

Glasgow is not only losing there QB, but there WR Credle as well. Plus their head coach left, I think they could fall off from that 10-1 season last year.

Woodbridge is losing A LOT. Lots of seniors on both lines and the loss of the stud DE, Vessels and Styles will hurt. They do return the QB who was a sophomore.

Milford definitely lost a lot on the lines as well, plus at the skill positions minus RB. The return of Bowman for a full season could be huge for them in the South, but they will have an early match up against Sussex Tech to see how good they really are, plus another D1 game vs Cape.

DMA is always big up front, but they lost their QB and that big RB. They typically have a favorable schedule.

Who doesn't love football talk in May? It's never TOO early!

Never too early to talk football, but it's already too late for every team in the state not named Smyrna. They in a lig of they own, with or without LB4

Ps anyone hear if he's going to transfer to yet another school?

Have heard contradicting stories over the last month....

A family member who teaches at the high school says he is still attending classes then I hear from someone close to the program that he intends to transfer.

But personally, why wait? If you're going to, then do it and build a commoderity with your new teammates.

So my guess is it's all talk, and he will still be at Smyrna next fal

The school year is almost over , maybe that's why he may be waiting ? Why transfer with maybe 3 weeks to go ? Just my 2 cents. Personally, I don't care if he goes or stays . But , make no mistake, he absolutely does matter. Smyrna, though probably still the favorite, becomes vulnerable. JMO

WTF is he chasing at this point? He's got offers from Alabama and Ohio State, going to another ECA type school isn't going to do shit.

If he goes Knight breaks every rushing record in the state.

I'm not saying he's chasing anything. I want him to stay. Smyrnas offense was something special to witness. Certainly one of the better offense I've seen. I can't wait to see what they do next season.

But if he does go, it's not going to be a HUGE drop off, knight will just be used more, but I think with the new QB. Is what's going to hurt. He's a great player but no Henderson. That's the only drop off I see next year. But run the offense they ran in the title game and you won't be stopped IMO

I wasn't saying you said he's chasing something, I was just asking that to everyone. I'm not sure I understand the logic behind it. But to each his own

Why leave though? He can win another state championship against lesser competition than he would in MD or wherever he would go. Plus he has already committed to WVU. Unless if he can't graduate early from Smyrna, if that's what he wants to do.

These are just my thoughts as I have zero inside knowledge of the LB4 situation. I would guess if he leaves and goes to St Frances it would be a continuation of the same reasons he went to ECA.. Playing against top competition and training. Not just about getting the offer and committing but training and being prepared to play right away in college. Same reason all those guys with multiple offers go to IMG their Sr year. If they can play right away and are good enough they can get drafted after their sophomore year. People like to say its about a free education but for the top guys it's about getting to the league I know LB4 still trains with Coach DT (FLASH) and there is a connection with them and SFA.. SFA trains pretty much year round and will play a good schedule so preparing to play right away at WVU would be the motivation to transfer there at this point as well as early enrollment if he can. IMHO

Saint Frances Academy (home games played at Patterson Park):

Week 1 (9/1)- Bishop Sullivan (VA)

Week 2 (9/8)- IMG Academy National (FL)

Week 3 (9/15)- at Don Bosco Prep (NJ)

Week 4-

Week 5 (9/30)- at Loyola

Week 6 (10/6)- McDonogh

Week 7 (10/13)- Gilman

Week 8 (10/20)- at Archbishop Spalding

Week 9 (10/27)- Mount Saint Joseph

Week 10-

as a side note. There are strong rumors the other MIAA teams are just going to forfeit to SFA this year in protest. They were going to do it last year but a few AD's refused to go along. With what SFA is transferring in this year (30 some players from all over the East coast many of them highly ranked) don't be surprised if it doesn't happen this year.

It would be very prudent for LB4 to wait until the summer and attend the workouts to get a lay out of THE land so to speak on who is there and the pecking order before committing to go there. Similar to what Brightwell did last year. There is no guarantee LB4 would start as they have some very talented players transferring in of whom all have been made promises

good work RR

Yeah that's what he said...to RR

But yes, good work. As many of you know I'm a very strong smyrna supporter but I wouldn't give two dog shits/3 cat shits if he stays or goes. I think he should do what he or his parents thinks is best for him.

If he stays Smyrna walks all over everyone, if he goes the games will be a bit more interesting. I'm just glad I can tell people a smyrna player has an offer from Alabama.

How sure is everybody that Brown is solid for WVU. Expressing intent is not the same as signing an LOI. If he transfers, he wants to showcase his ability at a higher level than where he is.

Well he got offers from Alabama and Ohio State, not sure what other level he can get to.

Although I'm convinced that Alabama would convert him to DB. And I'm also convinced he is a pro prospect at DB

LB4 is very tight with Smallwood. WVU has been the target for a few years now going back to Red Lion days. IMO he gets on the field sooner at WVU than Bama or OSU. I believe WVU envisions LB4 in the same role as Smallwood but they may look at him at DB who knows

Who's your pick to win if LB4 transfers? Smyrna still?

good question but I believe Dad was the OC and held the DC's hands as well.. From what a former MT DC told me MP runs the whole shebang.

Blum ran the defense. Mark trusted him with that to do on his own. I know that for a fact. Mark however did call the offense, not sure who will be running it from here on out. I haven't asked that question just yet.

But personally, Marks a greater loss than Anthony. IMO.

Toss up between them and MT.. I like Drew Fry a bunch. Depends on what MT has for WR's will see how they look at 7on7's this summer.. What does Smyrna have at WR to replace LB?
Fry can go from a good quarterback to a great one with a better understanding of the game. The difference between Fry and Henderson/Wade is their decision making. Henderson and wade finished their seasons with 2-3 INTs while Fry finished with double digit INTs. Yes hes young but I look for his IQ to improve this year. Hand the ball over to SMY a few times and you find yourself down by 20+
