Maull steps down as St. George's head coach.

Wow! Good program up for grabs for an experienced coach. I wonder if some like Rahsaan Matthews would be interested? I know he is at Howard, but I think he can do more there. St. George's moves to Flight A, Division I next year. Matthews likes to throw the ball, and he coaches it well. He can do good with his system in Flight A.

Anyone know the reasoning for the step down? He had potential to take st. Georges and make them a threat in Division 1. Division 1 is tough, but they hung with William Penn last year who many thought was a top 3 team.

A new coach, a new system could hurt them entering stiffer competition.

Really good coach and a cool guy, sorry that St. G didn't win a few D2 titles before moving up. If he is indeed heading back to Cape, that's a match made in heaven.

As a Cape guy who grew up with Coach Maull I'd love to see him come home when Collick decides he's done but part of me doesn't because Cape people can be asses !!!

Time for Collick to hang it up. He has done an awesome job and should pass the torch to a proven home grown talent like Maull. If district has any vision they should actually be looking to go in that direction.

There are a couple good Assistant coaches in flight A who would do well at St.Georges

I didn't like him as a coach. His players didn't know how to handle the balls. They couldn't fully grasp the balls or cradle them.

J.D Maull had a great career as head coach building a football program, fun team to watch over the last few years. Had great playoff runs in 2013 and 2015. I've seen many sg games and I would say the best fit for head coach would be assistant offensive coordinator Jimmy Cullin. He's been coaching for years and has been Maull's right hand man on the offensive side of the ball. Nobody knows the offense as well as he does and he could put that team right back to a 7-3 8-2 record even moving up to Division 1. Most teams struggle with new coaching, but Jimmy already has the relationship with the other coaches and players and putting him in that position would keep the team moving with no problem.

St Georges should start with a whole new coaching staff and with fresh start.

I think 5 straight playoff appearances says otherwise.

You gotta look at competition bud. Flight b isn't a prime example of great competition. They should have been in the playoffs al those years. The same gameplan, and mentality that they have had is not gonna cut it against the bigger teams like Penn and Concord.

Looking at the schedule they are already expected 3 losses...with two other games being a 50/50 chance of winning. They will struggle next year, a new coaching staff with a new outlook and plan and execution could benefit this team for the long haul.
