Good game by the Cavs tonight. Smyrna couldn't survive so many mistakes. Even when Smyrna beat MT in the championships I always wondered what was up with the cowbells. I had looked it up back in 2015 (before the game), and thought that noisemakers were prohibited in the postseason. Is that a DIAA regulation? If so, enforce the rule. If not going to enforce it, delete from rule books. I think I even heard horns as well. Stop the wink and nod ... make a decision about that. Last thing...To the idiot MT fan/Dad/“star in his mind from back in the day“ yelling near the press box...You are an embarrassment to your team and community. Take your over-the-top b&^ching and bad language to the edge of the stands so you can "idiot" privately. A permanent recording of the game is forever marred by the rabid fan who has to be the center of attention for those near him. (Hope your mouth can be edited out later). Btw, if you don't realize that YOU are the one I'm referring to, listen to the nfhsnetwork broadcast. Coach Blum, please muzzle this guy or move him. That is all.

I would agree that there is a guy that needs to tone it down up there. On a side note you should tell your band to have some class and not march through a crowd of Middletown parents that are trying congratulate there sons on there performance. It wouldn't be so blatant but they wait in the stands for 20-30 minutes after everyone else including the Smryna players are gone to do it. They did it both games this year. No other school does this. Totally classless.

Don’t want to use the son’s name in this but what position does he play? I think I have an idea who you are talking about.

The band always waits later to leave. Were you congregated near the exit? No one is leaving late to target MT parents or fans. Get over yourself. A grown man whining about a band is classy, I guess...

Middletown fans blowing off an air horn while Smyrna QB was trying to communicate the play and call the snap should have been an unsportsmanlike penalty against the hometeam. Thats some bush league bull butter...

You would be correct YJM... although the cow bells are legal at an outdoor contest (based on your interpretation if they can emulate game control sounds or disrupt them, or if they are used in an unsportsmanlike manor) but air horns are not legal what so ever and should have drawn a flag.

Item 7. Sportsmanship and Spectator Conduct

A. Member schools are required to conduct all of their athletic affairs in a spirit of good sportsmanship.

B. The administrators, athletic directors, and coaches of the participating schools are expected to: actively promote good sportsmanship and appropriate crowd behavior, stress the importance of demonstrating respect for the contest officials and the opposing team, and emphasize the need for proper conduct by spectators at all venues. School administrators are expected to be proactive in preventing unsportsmanlike behavior and to deal with it promptly and decisively if it occurs at the contest.

C. The coaches and athletes of the participating schools are expected to observe the highest standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior

D. Spectator Guidelines and Conduct:

1. Drones, banners, flags, and signs are prohibited at all tournament contests. Other decorations that do not block spectator, press or team sightlines may be used with permission of and at the discretion of the Committee.

2. Streamers, confetti, and other paper debris are discouraged.

3. Sirens, horns, bells, buzzers, whistles or any other artificial or mechanical noise-making devices are strictly forbidden at all indoor events.

4. The use of any noise making device that simulates game controls devices (whistles, air horns etc.) is strictly forbidden at all contests.

5. All cheers should stress the spirit of good sportsmanship. Use only positive cheers that encourage your team. Profane, derogatory or obscene chants and taunting will not be tolerated

6. Behavior such as fans reading newspapers or turning their backs during player introductions, spectators yelling and waving their arms to distract an opponent, booing or heckling the contest officials, and being disrespectful to the opposing cheerleaders is unsportsmanlike behavior and is discouraged.

7. Face paint is permitted, but body paint is not. A shirt, top, etc. must be worn at all times.

8. Spectators must remain in the assigned seating section. Spectators are not permitted on the playing surface at any time.

as for the Championship game

Noise Making Devices
Musical instruments or any type of noise-making device are prohibited inside Delaware Stadium, even if purchased on-site at the University.

It is tradition that parents wait to greet their kids there because it's where they come off the field to go to the locker room. I don't care what you say it's done on purpose to irritate a tradition after our games.

You know what I'm not sure why I comment on this forum. No one out there likes Middletown. I guess it's mostly because we're a bunch of small town people that has some pretty tough kids that win a lot of football games. We don't whine. We just win.

I personally don't have any problem with Middletown or its whacky fans.... Not sure Middletown qualifies as a small town though. It does have two high schools and both are D1.. just saying

Caravel has its whacky yeller out stuff guy too.lol I usually don't hear him at home games as I don't sit up in the stands but at the Tower Hill game sitting in the smaller stands the guy was straight up obnoxious.. Actually it really took away from the experience for me because I found myself feeling bad for whoever his kid was and his family.. I was embarrassed for them.. Thank goodness the players on the field can't hear him which is a fact the clown doesn't realize.. Wanna be coach bitching about the players not doing whatever he thought they should even tried to take credit for when the players started doing better as if they started listening to him.. I kid you not.. what a tool... I am sure allot of Caravel fans will be glad when his kid moves on..alas there will be another to take his place..SMH

So you see 8484ron it's not just Middletown lol

I would agree that air horns at that moment should not be allowed. I don't notice them but it could happen. It was noisy last night.

That Caravel “Fan” was heard pretty prominently across the field at the Woodbridge Game as well. I remember commenting to myself, what a Jack Butt. To be heard clearly over the fandom of Caravel is a pretty decent feat. Shame for kid or any kid that has to deal with that. I hope the young man doesn’t end up that way as well.

I logged on to maybe get some info about the game. Instead it’s the usual 24/7 bitching and moaning.

Even though the cowbells are annoying I think it’s a cool tradition so whatever. I do think that if they are against the rules then the rules should be changed or enforced.

Now to the bullhorn. 84ron is full of shit if he says he didn’t hear a god damn bullhorn blowing 40 times throughout the game, coincidentally when Smyrna would be in their cadence or changing plays. Or 84ron is the person doing it and wants to play coy.

The guy screaming “go Middletown!” while the national anthem was still playing....pretty disrespectful and attention-seeking. I’m assuming it was the same guy yelling during the broadcast. I asked my buddy who goes to every game/had kids play for Middletown and he filled me in on this dude. He obviously is yearning for attention because he clearly doesn’t get it from anywhere else in his life.

The group of Middletown parents who decide to sit in on the Smyrna side in the middle of the Smyrna fans, despite the fact the Middletown stands weren’t nearly filled....pretty annoying too. And again it’s very attention seeking to do something like that to just get a rise out of people.

Now to the game. Very exciting and close for the majority. In the end the 3 fumbles by Smyrna’s QB sealed the deal for Middletown. It’s hard to give up 21 points (fact) off turnovers and in reality Smyrna probably scores at least 1 TD in those drives so it’s really a 21-42 point swing. Hard to make that ground up. I feel bad for him and I’m sure he’ll come back stronger next year.

And I wasn’t sold on Middletowns QB being this big time recruit.....I think I was wrong. Kid can throw a really pretty ball with lots of velo and placement. Hopefully he transfers!

I agree that he should tone it down at times needs a better choice of words. He's a very enthusiastic guy but goes over the top now and then. I don't even know his name. As far as the bells go I don't mind them. It does get the players pumped though. It's a thing that started long ago. The horns should not be going off when the opposing team is at the line of scrimmage. I will tell you that I played in some games that the crowd was so load that you can't hear crap. There are ways around it on the field if your prepared for it. I'm not a huge fan of any of the gadgets that make noise. It's a part of the game that's hard to contain

So, apparently the cowbells are allowed at outdoor events. The DIAA manual says artificial noisemakers are prohibited at indoor events. Air horns, however, are not allowed. If you're going to have a rule, enforce it.

Behavior such as fans reading newspapers or turning their backs during player introductions; that rule seems a bit outdated.

Exactly who has newspapers anymore? haha.. Would turning your back and reading smart phones count?

as an FYI.. Rock that rule is more for indoor sports like introductions at a basketball game..Imagine if the fans and parents turned their backs and read newspapers during introductions at a volleyball match.. lol.. I would pay to see that..
