I haven't seen the Sals. The Cavs have a nice team. Saw them beat Smyrna and Penn.

What are the key factors in this one? Who takes it?

The key factor in this game will be the defenses.

You can look at the fire power that both team possess Zach Gwynn, Carson Salvo, Drew Fry, and Kedrick Whitehead.

Sallies is usually known for size up front and not that they are small, they are just not as big as the typical lines sallies possess. Middletown he never been known for their size.

They can throw or run the ball.

You can go special teams, but in high school special teams, for the most part doesn't pay much of a factor. Mtown had Washington who had returned plenty of kicks/punts, not sure what sallies has but it can't be better or worse I would assume.

So it falls on the defense, and Middletown has been known to be one of if not the best defense in the state. No knock on Salesianum, who can feature a great defense as well. The difference this year is that sallies not finally has some speed on that side of the ball.

So to me, the winner of this game will be what defense comes out to play more. Let's not forget, the last time these two met at Baynard, sallies stuffed a one yard run by Frankie Datillo at the last second of the game to advance to the championship game.

With all due respect to Smyrna and Central, this should be as great of a game as the Middletown-Smyrna game back at week 1.

I hope it turns into a shoot out between Gwynn and Fry. Despite my hometown leanings, I'm really a fan of quarterback play. With more maturity and experience (and no Henderson shadow), I'm anxious to see how good these guys can be. They have capable receivers so I hope they air it out this weekend. I think that Middletown O and D will be a little too much so I got MT 36 Sals 21.

You - my bias side loves you're prediction, however, I think that might be a generous point margin for Middletown. The Cavs best receiver hasn't played since the 4th qt against William Penn back in week 2 because of an injury. If he don't play, it really could be anyone's game. If he plays, I'll run with your pick 37-21, if he doesn't, I'll go 27-24 Middletown.

I got Sals losing by 10 or more. Cavs are significantly better than any team they have seen to date. And although I thik Gwynn should have been the starter since his So. campaign- Fry is the best in the business this year and I do not think the Sals DB's can compete. And M-Town is the more aggressive team-they will play to the whistle and are happy to trade punches with anyone.

According to 2 insightful reports I received on the Slowskys - Episcopal game.....the Slowskys were lucky to get out alive last week. An incredible lack of discipline allegedly caused Episcopal to be assessed many unsportsmanlike penalties. The strange thing is that the the Slowskys did beat the best team they have played this year after their giveaway against Judge.

They seem to struggle against mobile QB's. My sense is that they will get beat by like 2 TD's but they will not get blown out...There is something about the Slowsky culture that is admirable. They actually think they can beat a team like the Cavs. (No chance)

I plan to get there early. I will be sitting on the Middletown side probably wearing a green ND hoodie. Stop by and talk to me.

@Jaw..
you didn’t say the main reason Sals will lose,
the coach is living in the 70’s...

where has Black Doug been?
